Angela Carson wants nothing more than to be the third generation to run her family’s holiday store, Heart of Christmas, successfully. They’ve weathered more than 60 tourist seasons, major hurricanes, and urban sprawl from their old decommissioned lighthouse. But the national chain that set up shop in their small North Carolina town of Pleasant Sands may be more than Heart of Christmas can survive. Encouraged by her niece to ask Santa for help through the Dear Santa app, Angela gives in and lets the words fly in a way that would no doubt land her on the naughty list.

...But the plot didn’t work for me. This is my 8th Christmas novel this December. Of those, Dear Santa has been my least favorite. To story line is a Christmas version the ‘90’s move ‘You’ve got Mail’... only not nearly as good (one of my favorite movies). There are redeeming qualities to the story and I liked the characters. However, many of the scenes were so similar to the movie it actually became a distraction and my mind couldn’t stop replying the movie in my head. I do not know if this was intentional by the author or not. The narration is good. What could have been a very enjoyable book was a let down in the end. If you’re not familiar with ‘You Got Mail’ then the might like this listen. However if you love the movie, save yourself some time and just rewatch the movie, you’re going to enjoy it more!

If I want to listen to music while listening to an Audiobook then I’ll play my own. I want to know who’s stupid idea is it to play music, with an annoying bass, literally played over top of the narrator’s voice randomly throughout the book.

Most people probably will not be as annoyed as I am over the music. However, if you’re like me, and suffer from chronic migraines, or any other condition that causes a sensitivity to noise, you will probably find the music annoying too. I listen to audiobooks particularly when I’m stuck in a dark, quiet room and need to distract my mind from the pain. The bass hurts my ears, plus it makes me literally jump every time it plays because I’m not expecting music and I’m startled!

Other than the annoying music, the audiobook is outstanding. The writing is great and the narrator is better than I simply fanatic.

Each new book Mizushima’s writing gets better and better. Wu’s narration was just as skillful as the previous books. I will without a doubt buy any audiobook by this pair. I absolutely love this series! If you’re not an animal lover with respect for small town life you might not enjoy this series as much but it’s still a darn good story.

Everything has been leading to this. It's the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd, and the small town of Promise Falls, New York, has found itself in the midst of a full-blown catastrophe. Hundreds of people are going to the hospital with similar flu-like symptoms - and dozens have died. Investigators quickly zero in on the water supply. But the question for many, including private investigator Cal Weaver, remains: Who would benefit from a mass poisoning of this town?

I’ve just discovered Linwood Barclay in the last month. After listening to a few books he’s been elevated to my favorite Author list. He’s greatest gift is creating characters in such a way that the reader’s emotions are consistently being multiplied. You hate a character one minute, then you love the character in the next scene/book. They all have human flaws, nobody is overly perfect The narration on nearly all the books I listen to so far are very good. The narrators seem to change a lot in this series but all have done a great job overall. I highly recommend all the books by this author!

If not for Dawe’s great performance I might have given up on the story. I’m sure many will love this book but I’m not one. I hate spoilers so I won’t go into the plot.

Madison Avery is a young woman with a huge problem. From her penthouse apartment, she witnessed a murder in the building across the street, but by the time the police arrived, the crime scene had been wiped clean. Unfortunately Madison suffers from prosopagnosia - face blindness - so even though she had a clear view of the murder, she can't describe the victim or the killer. With no forensic evidence that a crime was committed and no description of the victim to match to a body, the police have no choice but to close the file.

If you’re sensitive to the abundance of F-bombs, then I highly suggest skipping this entire series.

It took me a long time before giving this book a try, and I’m glad I did. I like Armstrong’s writing style and the plot is different than so many others in this genre. Living in Alaska I can totally relate to the remote Yukon location. There’s plenty of action to keep me entertained and now I’m on book 3 in the series. I highly suggest reading the series in order to understand the timeline and events.

Plummer is a talented voice performer. She reads with emotion, has a range of voices, and she uses tone, pitch and inflection like a master. My only small quibble, is at a few points she sounds a tad over dramatic but it didn’t distract from my enjoyment.
