Twelfth century England: Two men vie for the throne: King Stephen the usurper and young Duke Henry the rightful heir. Amid civil and private wars, alliances are forged, loyalties are betrayed, families are divided, and marriages are made. For four years, Lady Annyn Bretanne has trained at arms with one end in mind - to avenge her brother's murder as God has not deemed it worthy to do. Disguised as a squire, she sets off to exact revenge on a man known only by his surname, Wulfrith.

I thoroughly enjoyed the beginnings of the Wulfrith clan and the first book in the Age of Faith Series. Garr Wulfrith is a warrior's warrior. Someone that is above all other knights in integrity, ability, faith & endurance. You can't help but be drawn to this exquisite Medieval male figure. I relished seeing a "wisp" of a girl (Annyn) pit her wits, against all of the other male trainees at Wulfen Castle and the mighty Baron Wulfrith (even the unexpected physical attraction between Annyn & Garr). Every listening moment was a delight and the story has plenty of action, romance, angst and dramatic dialogue. The story never loses its footing by NOT being laced with profanity and explicit sex scenes. The best part is the narration by Mary Sarah Agliotta. She is an exceptional vocal actress who totally enhances the enjoyment of the story. Way to go, Ms. Leigh. Thanks!

Sophie Appersett is quite willing to marry outside of her class to ensure the survival of her family. But the darkly handsome Mr. Edward Sharpe is no run-of-the-mill London merchant. He's grim and silent. A man of little emotion - or perhaps no emotion at all. After two months of courtship, she's ready to put an end to things. But severing ties with her taciturn suitor isn't as straightforward as Sophie envisioned.

I was thoroughly delighted by this charming story, even though I felt it was too short. I have been searching for another author, who could write luscious tales of a time past, without cramming it full of debauchery and lewdness. I am especially fond of the vocal artistry of Mr. Alex Wyndham having listened to him on at least ten other audiobooks. It was his voice that first drew me to this book, yet the author's writing is worthy on its own merit. I hope Ms. Matthews continues to utilize the talents of Mr. Wyndham, because it enhances the enjoyment of her book ten-fold. I hate to say this, but her previous narrator (I have two of those audio books also) is not as pleasing, nor has the depth of range, that Mr. Wyndham exhibits. Thanks for a lovely read.

Life for Adda Sinclaire, New York Times best-selling author and historical romance writer extraordinaire, reads more like a country song than a breathless, bodice-bursting affair. For starters, she has no romance in her own life. That might have something to do with the fact that her husband - correction, ex-husband - ran off with Stick Woman, whom everyone knew would never be more than a mid-list author anyway.

I have never enjoyed a storyline more. I was so engaged, that I listened to the book in its entirety in one day. It was intriguing, romantic, suspenseful, and humorous all rolled into one. It also gave you a bird's eye view of how we view people and stigmatize them. It was also a reminder of how highly we think of ourselves, but we're really not "all that" and a bag of chips. I salute Ms. Leigh for presenting a modern story, that enthralled me, even though I'm more of a fan of her medieval writings. Mary Sarah is a terrific narrator and is a whiz at doing all of the voices accurately throughout the book. I own all of Ms. Leigh 's other audiobooks, and I'm not sure why it took me so long to take a chance on this one. I'm glad that I finally did. Thanks Audible.

This book is my all time favorite of all the Rockcliffe series audiobooks. It was like reading about an adventure of Casanova. I salute Stella Riley for her ingenuity and plot setup. It was simply MAGNIFICENT. I have listened to this book multiple times and will probably keep doing so, because that is how exquisitely romantic it is. I especially love the tension between the H and H, but also with the hero and the villain. It keeps you riveted to every word and detail. Hopefully, Ms. Riley will add books to the series after Hazard. I have listened to all of her books now and want more. She is so very like Georgette Heyer, except for the overdone bedroom scenes, which could be left to our imaginations. Her books are excellent without the detailed sex. I do yet salute this writer for her artistry.

I read this book years ago on my Nook, and recently had an opportunity to purchase the audiobook. I received heartwarming satisfaction from hearing the story read so dynamically by the narrator. It is an intriguing in-depth look at two (2) noteworthy biblical figures. I'm aware that it isn't strictly accurate, but the author has a terrific imagination, and I don't fault her for using poetic license. In actuality, it is considered fiction. I think this book is well worth the money or a credit. It brings ancient times vibrantly to life and will even send you to the Bible to read the actual scriptural story. I read the e-book first before listening to the audiobook. I was hoping my opinion would change upon listening to the drama unfold vocally, but it did not. First, I am a fan of the entire dragon series and own all of the e-books. Ms. Hopkins is an outstanding creator of fiction and not only draws your attention, but keeps your attention. She covers minor details that help bring each aspect of the story to life for a reader. But, sad to say the details of court life were absolutely tedious and unfortunately drove me to boredom. Secondly, once the story brings the two main characters together (Max & Anna), that is where the story is electric, because of the renewal of a relationship long thought dead. I would have rather known what Max was doing in a far off country, than listening to the petty sniping of women in court. Third, Rupert got away with too much treachery, I can't believe Alfred was so blind to the machinations of his brother. The narrator was ok, but I would enjoy hearing the dragons voiced by a male narrator. This narrator did not hit the mark successfully trying to vocalize the men. I must admit that I think I can do better voices in my head as I read the e-book, so I will probably not listen to any more Dragon audiobooks, unless there is a male & female narrator. Yet, I am thankful to the author for such a wonderfully written series. I will continue to read them many times over in the years ahead.
*Please note that I received a "complimentary copy" of this new audiobook from the author in exchange for an objective review.

What an amazing and enjoyable audio book. It wreaked havoc with my emotions. I was smiling, gasping, chuckling and crying big crocodile tears throughout. I have avidly listened to all of Ms. Riley books now, and this is probably my favorite, next to "The Player." I hated for it to end. I was especially glad the story was not so focused on sex, but on great storytelling and on what it means to truly love another person. I admired the intense fabric of the dialogue and the well thought out plot. Simply smashing! Thanks Audible and Ms. Riley. I also want to give a big shout out to the inimitable Mr. Wyndham, who never fails to add depth to the story, due to his unmatched vocal talent.

I have listened to the entire Roxton family saga and both volumes of the diaries and I greatly esteem the author, but I did not like this book. It was too bawdy & risque for my tastes, yet it didn't really need to be, since the writing was excellent. It goes without saying that the narrator (Alex Wyndham) was par excellent. He could make a "phone book" sound like "Shakespeare." On this one, I want my credit back.

I almost listened to this book in one sitting, because it was so much fun. I laughed my way through from beginning to end. There were some very touching moments, which gave the listener real insight into the difficulties of being a comedian and staying on the top of the heap.
I am a big fan of Bob Newhart and remember watching his tv shows. I have even attended one of his club performances and with him there is no bad performance. He keeps you in stitches. It was an unusual mix of stars in conversation with Bob, but truly a wonderful bunch of conversations. Well worth a credit. I am amazed at how much I enjoyed this audiobook. I am gobsmacked. This audiobook was sensational. I liked the intro/exit music, the actors, the adaption, Ms. Emma Thompson's reading and of course Jane Austen's writing. I was not initially convinced that an adapted version would suit me, but it was a free Audible original, so I thought to take a risk. Holy smokes, I'm glad that I did. I was so enthralled that I never felt cheated that there were missing parts of the book. I have a full version of "Emma" as an audiobook and have the ebook. I confess I listen to it often being a diehard Austen fan. Yet, my library would have been incomplete without this book. Smashing...simply smashing!! I want more books with this quality of acting & reading in the future. Thanks Audible for using a "full cast"...a great decision. Hats off to the cast! You guys rock!!
