Manolito De La Cruz knew he was dangerously close to turning into a vampire. The last thing he expected after being called back to his Carpathian homeland by Prince Mikhail was to catch the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human, but she knows all too well the overwhelmingly aggressive instincts of Carpathian males.

This book mocks abuse against women. It takes a counselor and places her in the role of the abused and then promotes emotion and power abuse against her as if it is okay within a relationship.

Another swamp story. Love the family there, although I miss hearing about the initial characters in this series. The characters are well developed and I like them.
Feehan does repeat dialog and information in the story as if the reader has not just read that same information several times already. That’s a little weird. Overall a good addition though to the series.

I like the characters in this story. I like the connections that are mentioned to past characters. If you can get past the first part of this book that is solely sex, then the story develops. Feehan got in a bit of a rut for awhile with her sex scenes, as if that were the whole story, but it seems she is working her way out of that.

Captain Sir Sheridan Drake is no knight in shining armor, even if he happens to be famous for his heroism. An exiled princess with revolutionary ideas is just a convenient opportunity to get himself out of debt. Princess Olympia isn't precisely fairy-tale royalty herself; she's plump and a little shy, and desperate to do something of importance in the world. But though their meeting begins with her hopeless hero worship, a harrowing journey to the bleak edge of the world will transform them both.

The stupendous narrator pulls through the depth of the characters intended by the author. Even though one character fails to learn and listen for a very, very long time, she does grow very slowly, finally to allow wisdom and love in her life. Laura Kinsale offers a fresh, but serious approach to this genre with great success.

Welcome to winter in Three Pines, a picturesque village in Quebec, where the villagers are preparing for a traditional country Christmas, and someone is preparing for murder. No one liked CC de Poitiers. Not her quiet husband, not her spineless lover, not her pathetic daughter - and certainly none of the residents of Three Pines. CC de Poitiers managed to alienate everyone, right up until the moment of her death. When Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, of the Sûreté du Quebec, is called to investigate, he quickly realizes he's dealing with someone quite extraordinary.

Håkan von Enke, a retired naval officer, disappears during a walk in a forest near Stockholm. Wallander is not officially involved in the investigation, but he is personally affected—von Enke is his daughter’s father-in-law—and Wallander is soon interfering in matters that are not his responsibility. He is confounded by the information he uncovers, which hints at elaborate Cold War espionage.

If you could sum up The Troubled Man in three words, what would they be?

Powerful... Provoking... Change!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Of course, as usual Mankell does his best to keep the reader tuned to the slightest hesitancy or breath of each character.

What about Robin Sachs’s performance did you like?

I liked Dick Hill much better. I wonder about the reason for the change. This narrator is okay, but lacks the force and depth of character for Wallander.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't tell you before you read it!
