I have read all of Kristen Ashley's books with the exception of the Honey Series and obviously liked them. Unfortunately not the case with this jumbled mess. Like most of your readers, I have read a few books since I read bout the random characters you cover in your latest "book". If asking for opinions about doing this again.... Just don't. I am sure you don't need the money that bad. You are better than this.

How long does it take to get over your first love? Eight years should be long enough. My mind knows that, but there's no convincing my heart. Guys like Joel weren't supposed to fall for girls like me. He had his pick of women at University, but somehow the laws of nature were defied and we fell crazy in love. After graduation, Joel left to pursue his career in New York. He wanted me to go with him but my life was in London. We broke up and my heart split in two. I haven't seen or spoken to him since he left.

Have always loved Louise's books in the past but I could barely make it through this one.... and certainly not worth a credit (probably the only reason I finished it). Sigh. I bought on the basis of past books by this author that I have enjoyed. I will be more careful next time. Overall it was boring, annoying and not believable for a grown woman with a successful career as a lawyer to be such a ninny. Really Joel? Why did you still love her? LOL

She takes my breath away; she is so beautifully damaged. Yes, I had broken her, ravished her life, and destroyed her happiness. I brought her to the ultimate despair. I was responsible for all the pain and suffering that now brought her to her knees in front of me. Broken. Hopeless. Reckless in her agony. She is a mirror of my own tortured soul. But what I took away I can give back, in ways she cannot even begin to imagine. She is everything right in all my wrongs.

What would have made Vandal better?

Leave out the BDSM or make it clear this book unlike the first in the series is not a romance.

Would you ever listen to anything by Carian Cole again?

Loved Storm and was expecting something similar. Yuck!

Would you be willing to try another one of Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell ’s performances?

Yes. Performance was okay if not my favorite.

What character would you cut from Vandal?

Vandal. Very unlikeable.

Any additional comments?

Edit more carefully.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I usually love Kristen Ashely books. Normally they are fast paced and funny with a Heroine you can identify with and root for. Unfortunately, Fire Inside was merely Ok. I did like checking in with some of the previous characters like Tack and Tyra, etc.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Not sure I am interested in reading any more books in this particular series.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Fire Inside seemed like a filler book for the series. I found myself checking to see how much was left so I could finish and go on to another book.

Was Fire Inside worth the listening time?

I think the narrator did the best she could. Lanie was truly an annoying twit.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to the Rock Chick books in audio.

The honourable Christopher Fancot, on leave from the Diplomatic Service in the summer of 1817, is startled to find his entrancing but incorrigibly extravagant mother on the brink of financial and social ruin - and more than alarmed that his identical twin, Evelyn, Earl of Denville, has disappeared without trace. Christopher, or Kit, the respectable brother, is forced into an outrageous masquerade by his wayward family's tangled affairs. But in the face of Evelyn's continued absence, even Kit's ingenuity is stretched to the limit.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. Sadly, I was unable to finish the book. I read many of Georgette Heyer's books years ago as a teenager. Some are still relevant. This one is not.

Would you recommend False Colours to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I would not recommend False Colours as it is slow moving and boring.

What three words best describe Phyllida Nash’s voice?

ok, material uninspiring

Did False Colours inspire you to do anything?

Prevented the temptation to go down memory lane and buy further Georgette Heyer audio books. Sigh. Despite pleasant memories of enjoying them 30 years ago, this book just doesn't translate to the here and now.

Dear Listener, Island Flame is a classic tale of romance on the high seas, featuring two extraordinary characters: the headstrong Lady Catherine Aldley and the legendary pirate Jonathan Hale. No book is more special to me. I was thrilled when it was published, and now, more than thirty years later, I am just as excited to share it again with you. I don’t have to tell you that their tumultuous escapade sizzles with passion (lots of passion!), but what I hope you will take away most from Cathy and Jonathan is that dreams do come true - in love and in life. Mine did, and I hope yours will too.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Ok for a sale book but overall mean spirited.

If you’ve listened to books by Karen Robards before, how does this one compare?

I bought the sequel at the same time I bought the first book as I usually like Karen Robards and they were both on sale. By the end of Island Flame I wish I had not purchased the sequel.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration was fine. She didn't have a lot to work with.

Do you think Island Flame needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Should have stopped with Island Flame

Any additional comments?

Too dark to be enjoyable.
