This is book one of a new series BUT you really need to read the Lost Fleet series to take full advantage of this new series story line. Black Jack Geary to given command of First Fleet and is to proceed to alien space to explore. Even before he got to the fleet, stupid orders were given by headquarters that almost cause to military of the Alliance to revolt. I was thinking this is not being realistic but then I thought of the history books I have read and thought oh no this is like some of the crazy things that do happen. The book has some great battle scenes, lots of suspense and backstabbing politics by governments. Overall a good story that lives you wanting more. Christian Rummel does a great job narrating the story. He also narrated the Lost Fleet series so the voices carry over and keep the continuity going. Enjoy.

Charles Keating did an excellent job narrating the story. Cornwell made this battle come to life, I felt as if I was there, I could hear the twang of the bows, the crash of steel and the screaming of the wounded, no one writes a battle scene like Cornwell. This book is such a great way to learn history, Cornwell is accurate with the history but still manages to bring history to life. So many people have reviewed this book I really do not have much to add. The story does point out how religion played a key role in life at that time. You can not go wrong choosing to read a Cornwell book.

Christian Rodska did a wonderful job narrating the story. Hornblower sails to central America and a secret mission. Forester description of the land and people brought a picture to my mind as if I was watching a movie. Forester's battle scenes are almost as good as Patrick O'Brian. It is hard enought to fight another ship without having to worry about the wind in the sails and directions you can sail. This was the first book in the series and I am looking forward to reading more in this series. I understand Forester has written many book such as African Queen that became movies. I shall see what Audible has of Forester's books.

Dick Hill does a great job narrating the book. Since Griffin has been writing with his son the story seems a bit ragged. I hope as they work together the son learns more from his father and can carry the writing forward. There was a lot of repetition of the prior books of the series which interfered with the current story. The story built up with lots of suspense then the ending was a total let down. At first I thought there was an error in the downloading of the book, it seemed as if a whole section of the ending was missing. I would have liked a lot more detail for the ending. Maybe it will be filled in with the next book of the series. I love the series and will keep listening and hope they improve writing together.

Simon Prebble did a great job narrating the story. The book goes into more depth surrounding the times of Tesla. It gives an overview history of Serbia and surrounding countries. In covering the education of Tesla the author also introduces the reader to the professors that influenced him. Marc Seifer also covers in depth the interaction between Edison, Bell, Westinghouse and investors such as J.P. Morgan, John Aster, Stanford White and others. Tesla health, habits and mental health are covered. Seifer goes into depth covering the wide array of invention of Tesla and many are just becoming a factor in our daily life. It was also interesting to note that there are many more invention that the department of defense placed under a blanket of national security and no information is available on these inventions. This book has only made me want to know more about Tesla and his fellow engineers of the 1890s.

Kate Burton does a good job with the narration. The story was interesting and I must say the ending took me by surprise I had a different character line up as the killer. What bothered me the most was the constant repetition in the form of dialog through out the book. Repeating an item twice may be okay to make the point you are going back to re-evaluate your findings but to do it over and over again was annoying. I would like to have more about Lucy in the next story and more action. Overall I think this was a better book than Cornwell's last book "Port Mortuary".

Lots of intrigue for Steven Maturin and navel battles for Aubrey.

Patrick O'Brian did a great job narrating this story. This is an interesting tale the first half deals mostly with Aubrey and sailing along with sea battles. The description of the wine dark sea, earthquakes and the volcanic explosion in the ocean was fascinating. The second half deal more with Maturin and the politics and intrigue of Peru and Chili. Then his trek along the Andean Mt's to Chili with the naturalist description. Interesting book.

I had completed all the Harrington series books before starting on the sub-series book. I wish I had read/listen to this book before I had read "At All Cost" and "Mission of Honor". The Shadow of Saganami apparently fits into the time line somewhere in the "At All Cost" story line. The narrator was not Jay Snyder but Kevin Parasal he just can not do women voices not all women have a soprano voice. Over all great story lots of battle scenes, espionage, political intrigue to keep me up all night and not get anything done all day.

Scott Brick does a great job narrating this series. This was a good book, the pace moved right along and their was some action but much less than other books in the series. This book had much more suspense involved in the storyline. This is one of the few Griffin books that brought a tear to my eye toward the end of the book. I had just read a book about Harry Truman creating the CIA so when it showed up in the story line I felt very knowledgeable. Can not wait for the next book in the series. You will not waste a book credit if you choose this book.
