Surrender is not survival. Claire is desperate. Her once-thriving city lies in ruins. The strongest of the three human dynamics, Alphas, have grown feral. Common Betas circle like vultures. The lowest in the hierarchy, rare and weak, Omegas like Claire, are being destroyed. Sheltering amidst a dwindling enclave of frightened Omega women, Claire cannot provide enough to feed them all; her friends are starving. All due to one escaped convict's violent rise to power.

When your reading a book that has more than one character and those characters are speaking, you must create a distinct voice for each one and then remember who's voice belongs to whom. I'm actually listening to the second book now only because I can't find a better filler book while I wait for my other series to continue. When picking a narrator please make sure they are able to use multiple voices. I'm definitely returning this book just because of the bland narration.

My name is Sebastian Lindstrom, and I'm the villain of this story. I've decided to lay myself bare. To tell the truth for once in my hollow life, no matter how dark it gets. And I can assure you, it will get so dark that you'll find yourself feeling around the blackened corners of my mind, seeking a door handle that isn't there. Don't mistake this for a confession. I neither seek forgiveness nor would I accept it. My sins are my own. They keep me company. Instead, this is the true tale of how I found her, how I stole her, and how I lost her.

He followed her scent, and now his life is in danger. She has to fix this, somehow. If she could talk to the dragon, they could form a plan to escape, both of them. A good filler for in between series but not my favorite. The end was a lil abrupt. Totally expected something way more interesting than what I got. The epilogue from the second book came off as ridiculously epic but I didn't like how this book played out. I mean, mounting a chained Dragon.......... hmmmm what? That was the only interesting part of the book really.

The eligible dragon shifter males must hunt a handful of females. It's first catch, first serve. The biggest problem is that the females are human. Despite feedback to the contrary, Coal thinks they are weak and breakable. In his opinion, not capable of surviving the hunt, let alone the mating that will follow. He doesn't believe that a lowly human is capable of birthing him a royal heir, so why has his brother, the king, tasked him with claiming one?

I know I may get flack for this but I think they could've left Sebastian out of this one. Stella out performed him. I am all for the York train believe you me but for some reason he didn't bring it this time. I found myself distracted by his portrayal of the female lead and even the male. A little on the monotone side actually. Maybe he wasn't into the work ,Idk but I was disappointed with it. I actually checked to see if he narrated book two and when I seen he was i cringed😖. Dang it!

Once, I was nothing. Hungry, abandoned, wandering, and alone. An adolescent street rat fighting for crumbs. Then a chance encounter changed my entire world. A man in an expensive suit asked me how much my life was worth. I didn't have an answer because I didn't know. He asked if I thought it was worth killing for. Impulsively, I said yes.... He found me, then fostered me, and, in the interim, turned me into a killing machine.
