Kevin McNicholl may be a brutal force on the rugby field, but off the field, the star New Zealand All Black is a famously nice guy. His new tenant, though, arouses more than his protective side. She sets him on fire. Pity he's evicting her. Every woman deserves her dreams. Chloe Donaldson can't afford dreams, though, so she's given them up. Marriage, her ballet career, and now, her beautiful tower apartment with its view of the sea. Her new landlord is kicking her out, along with her three-year-old son, Zavy.

I liked the story. I have no complaints about that. I do wish they had kept the same narrator as the earlier books, though. This narrator had me cringing every time I heard the voice of the little boy. I was painful to listen to. It was distracting and really too away from the enjoyment of the audiobook.

Hugh is a shadow of the warrior he was, but when he learns that the Iron Dogs, soldiers who would follow him anywhere, are being hunted down and murdered, he must make a choice: to fade away or to be the leader he was born to be. Hugh knows he must carve a new place for himself and his people, but they have no money, no shelter, and no food, and the necromancers are coming. Fast.

I'll start by saying anything from Ilona Andrews is an auto-buy for me. I know I'll always have a solid story with well-developed characters in anything they write. I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed in any of their books I've read. I will admit to being a little hesitant to buy this book just because Hugh was such a villain in the KD series and I didn't see how I could ever like him enough to read a story about him, but since I always love any book from the authors, I decided to give Hugh a chance. I'm so very glad I did. I came to understand him better, but I REALLY loved the female main character, Elara. She starts out kinda hating Hugh as well, so I enjoyed her a lot! I am now eagerly awaiting the next story in the series and encourage everyone that even if you aren't a Hugh fan, this is so worth the credit and time!

I was a bit disappointed in this one, unfortunately. It felt like the story was rushed and too short, with more sex than story. I enjoyed the narrator, but she can only do so much. I just wish the author had fleshed the story out. Not her best effort, but I'll still listen to the next book since it's longer. I'm hoping that will make a difference.

After two weeks of searching, I found the seven-year-old I'd been hired to find too late. His body broken and discarded. Dead. My boss doesn't want me to hunt down his killers. It's too dangerous. But the Pacific Northwest Pack steps in, hiring me to bring the bastards to justice. Turns out the kid was half shifter. And shifters don't abandon their own. In a search that takes me through the maze of shifter hierarchy and the depths of the paranormal underworld, these killers underestimate how determined I am to mete out their punishment.

I couldn't even get all the way through. By 80% I was just frustrated and wishing I hadn't spent my credit. It's a weak copy of other urban fantasy series and I'd much rather reread one of those than spend my time dealing with the dumb main character in this. I rarely DNF a book, but if this had been an actual paper book, I'd have thrown it out the window. The main character just does so many stupid things. She's supposed to be an experience mercenary, but there was no evidence of that in most of her actions. Just NO, Save your time and money.

I laughed and cried and loved right along with Anne. This is a book you can read again and again and enjoy every time.

The story has a cliffhanger ending, which I hate and you have to buy the next book to get more of the story. I will not be buying the next book. It most likely ends in another cliffhanger and I'd rather spend my time on a story I actually care about. The female narrator did a great job, but the male narrator made me cringe, he was so bad. He ruins the sections he reads.

Alexandra Kelly, his prey, thinks Vikar Sigurdsson is either flat-out crazy or he's trying to maneuver her into his bed-which is hardly where a professional reporter should conduct an interview, tempting as that prospect might be. Until Vikar does something a teensy bit unexpected, and Alex begins to wonder whether her mystery man could really be everything he says he is: a Viking vampire angel on a thousand-year-long mission with his pack of sinful brothers - and a man who's finally found the woman of his dreams.

The cast of characters are so full and rich that you can't wait to visit them in each story. I'm always happy to return to Eve's world.

There just wasn't much to the story except a bunch of sex scenes strung together by a very flat story. It could have been more than it was and I was disappointed. The narrators were wonderful, but they just didn't have much to work with. Amanda Ronconi is narrating under the name Amber Black, which is the best thing I can say about it. With the male character telling the woman she has great mammary glands, that pretty much ruined the story for me.

Sadly, this story was just not for me. I had to force myself to finish it. It was boring at times and frustrating at others. I don't know if this is a spin-off series, but I think it must be. There were characters and parts of the story that I felt the author thought I should already be familiar with. I won't be continuing this series.
