A bag of chips. That's all 16-year-old Rashad is looking for at the corner bodega. What he finds instead is a fist-happy cop, Paul Galluzzo, who mistakes Rashad for a shoplifter, mistakes Rashad's pleadings that he's stolen nothing for belligerence, mistakes Rashad's resistance to leave the bodega as resisting arrest, mistakes Rashad's every flinch at every punch the cop throws as further resistance and refusal to STAY STILL as ordered.

I love books that provide 2 perspectives of similar events. Whether the event is historical, a mystery, or a present day conflict. Those stories provide a great understanding of events.

The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador’s telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it’s hard to know what to make of it. It’s massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

El Cavador has other problems. Their systems are old and failing. The family is getting too big for the ship. There are claim-jumping corporate ships bringing Asteroid Belt tactics to the Kuiper Belt.

This series is hands down my favorite and I'm hooked for life. Since I've started Enders Game this series has the effect of making me feel as though I am a part of this futuristic world.

Andrew Wiggin is told that he can no longer live on Earth, and he realizes that this is the truth. He has become far more than just a boy who won a game: he is the Savior of Earth, a hero, a military genius whose allegiance is sought by every nation of the newly shattered Earth Hegemony. He is offered the choice of living in isolation on Eros, at one of the Hegemony's training facilities, but instead the 12-year-old chooses to leave his home world and begin the long relativistic journey out to the colonies.

I'm not sure what other people are talking about with the negative reviews but I've read the books in the time that coincides with the actually stories and this fit perfect.

Although I have read the Speaker Trilogy this sets you up to go right into them and I might reread them.

I am use to the plot twist and different perspectives on the Michael Bennett series. This book was too predictable for me, good thing it was free otherwise I would have been upset for buying it.

First of all I love this story and have read it myself multiple times. My only issue with this is the reader who is the author. I don't believe he did very good job reading it. The voice seemed none interested and he read without expression. At times it was difficult to understand which character was speaking as the same voice was used with each character. I could not get very far into this reading for those reasons.
