I am...That’s no longer an easy statement. Who am I? Since Sterling Sparrow, a man so handsome he takes my breath away and so infuriating he pushes me in ways I’ve never known, came barreling into my life like a category five hurricane, I can’t even finish that simple statement. In 26 years I’ve lived three lives - been three different people. Renee. Kennedy. And now, Araneae. They say that I was named after the spider to make me resilient. Sparrow would then be a bird. Birds eat spiders. I prefer to consider myself a cat.

I am SUCH an Aleatha fan but the slow moving predictable nature of this one is a disappointment. I’m hoping that volume 3 takes a great turn. I’m also completely thrown by the male narrator who’s voice doesn’t sound like a man of power by any means. Even worse is when he attempts to portray Kennedy’s voice. Very disturbing! This is so far a big miss for me.

She just didn’t know. My father is now gone. The city and the underbelly are now mine. As in all of Aleatha ‘s books, I enjoyed the opener with a promise of much more intrigue to come. Unlike her other works, I was disappointed in the voice of Sparrow which seemed rather high pitched and twangy for such an alpha guy. Kind of distracting.

Having read in excess of 200 romance novels, this was one of the most agonizing books I’ve encountered in a long time. So much so that I stopped listening after chapter 8. There was no hint of classy, slow burn eroticism, instead the sex scenes were crude in both description and action. Child rape scenes and eternally brooding characters (who remain so even at the end of the book) are not what I’m looking for in steamy romance. As much as I love Sebastian York, the continuously chopped up, 5-6 word sentences didn’t even give him a chance to shine and, honestly, how much longer can you describe a grilled cheese sandwich. I hate to say that I found no redeeming qualities in this one.

Although this addition to the Infidelity Series lacked the gripping intrigue that she’s known for, Aleatha has spun the most breathtaking story of love that will leave you reeling from its beauty and impact long after the last page is closed. To its best advantage, this installment should be read prior to the original 5 book series but can certainly be enjoyed on its own as a truly epic story of love, sacrifice and Respect.

Although I love Aleatha Romig’s books, I found this one to be a lot to keep track of (families, parents, business associates, etc), the story line (when it became intertwined and complicated) and the ending was very inconclusive. Was what they mentioned in the last sentence long or short?? Would have helped in solidifying who was the victim. Wasn’t a cliffhanger but left me hanging.

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl's college to take care of the only family I have left. There's one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value. My virginity. Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he's the only kindness in a brutal underworld. Except he's playing a deeper game than I know. Every move brings us together, every secret rips us apart.

With such high ratings, I was disappointed in the mediocre storyline and particularly in the pace of the story. Took almost 6 hours for the expected to happen due to tons of descriptive dialogue. Even as a cliffhanger, I doubt that I’ll read the next installment. Not that interested.

Just call me Mister O. Because your pleasure is my superpower. Making a woman feel "oh god that's good" is the name of the game, and if a man can't get the job done, he should get the hell out of the bedroom. I'm talking toe-curling, mind-blowing, sheet-grabbing ecstasy. Like I provide every time. I suppose that makes me a superhero of pleasure, and my mission is to always deliver.

As always, Sebastian York's narration is a winner so it's a shame that it was wasted. I would have said "wasted on this story" but, for the very most part, there wasn't one that I could really find. Seemed that the whole book was a dissertation of thinking sexy, talking sexy, acting sexy and not much more. The careers of the two subjects were both unbelievable and sophomoric. I recommend this to anyone who isn't concerned with type of storyline.
