While the universe was still young, vambraces were forged, giving their users extraordinary abilities. A brutal war was won through the blood and sacrifice of patriots. Soon, the vambraces faded to legend. Now, Frank and Marine Space Corps-1 find themselves across the galaxy, where an ancient evil is growing. From exploratory crew to the front of enemy lines, Frank will have to decide whether to play the part of hero or to be the Marine needed to win the war.

there were times I was shouting at the character for the obvious solutions but that was all character development and his frazzled self so np there.

it ends on an up beat, I am not sure how they will do book 2 ... I assume the main bad guy is going to come back in some other way ... hopefully it will be a game world development story as much as this was character building story

This wasn't what Lithia had in mind when she decided to run away from home. Her ship was not meant to carry a fugitive wanted in two galaxies or the stowaways running from a war that wasn't hers. She just wanted to live a quiet, peaceful life alongside her brother. But now she knows too much about The Helix, the secret hidden deep within it, and what it would mean for all humankind if she walked away.

The AI is supposed to be auto translating everything ... so why do they have accents? what is going on with this author

Earth in 2064 is politically corrupt and in economic decline. The Long Depression has dragged on for 56 years, and the Bureau of Sustainable Research is hard at work making sure no new technologies disrupt the planned economy. Ten years ago, a band of malcontents, dreamers, and libertarian radicals bolted privately developed antigravity drives onto rusty seagoing cargo ships, loaded them to the gills with 20th-century tunnel-boring machines and earthmoving equipment, and set sail - for the moon.
