I lasted about 20 minutes trying to listen to this book. The production of this audiobook was so bad I could not continue. The recording had a metallic sounding reverb, as if the recording was done in someone's backyard storage shed. The narrator's voice had little to no animation with very little change in pitch or inflection. I was still trying to get into the story when the last word of occasional sentences started being clipped short. I gave up when there was a garbled section where two or more recordings were superimposed on one another. No one would expect this title to be literary, but I did expect a professionally polished performance. I will be returning this book.

For Basha Argeneau, anything is better than facing her estranged family. Even hiding out in sweltering southern California. But when a sexy immortal in black shows up determined to bring her back to the clan, she'll do anything to keep far, far away from the past she can't outrun. Marcus Notte isn't here to play games - especially not with someone as crazy as the infamous blonde. Asked by Lucian Argeneau to bring her back for questioning, Marcus is determined to carry out Lucian's request - no matter how the seductive little mind-reading vamp feels about it.

First let me say I love Lynsay Sands's humor and bits of snark in all her books. This was the usual Argeneau story with a stellar job of narration by Bebe Kaye. Learning where Leo came from and why he turned out the way he did gave more meaning to events in earlier books. Basha;s need to learn the laws set out by the council and Marcus's injuries caused by Leo's children set up most of the events in the book. There was the expected life mate confusion and denial, but this was a fun listen as usual.

This was not the Audible listen I have come to expect from Laurann Dohner's books. The narrator should be doing Young Adult or Teen books as none of her character voices sounded like mature adults. I have all the New Species, Zorn Warrior, Cyborg Seduction, VLG, and Riding the Raines Audible books. I would recommend using your credits for any of those listens. Give this one a skip.

Trying to find books interesting and suitable for a blind, very elderly relative has me looking at and buying books that do not interest me. This book is definitely not my usual listen, but the sample caught my ear. This is a laugh out loud story of a simpler time that is worth every minute of time and money spent. Rube and his adventures in trying to always do the right thing will brighten your day.

John Charming isn't your average prince... He comes from a line of Charmings - an illustrious family of dragon slayers, witch-finders and killers dating back to before the fall of Rome. Trained by a modern day version of the Knights Templar, monster hunters who have updated their methods from chain mail and crossbows to Kevlar and shotguns, John Charming was one of the best-until a curse made him one of the abominations the Knights were sworn to hunt.

This book seemed to be lacking something when compared to the 1st book in the series. The biggest problem was the narrator (or the editing of the narration.) By the end of the book I was so annoyed by the very audible deep inhalations that were almost wheezes. I didn't notice it in the previous book, so maybe it is the editing.
