After nearly a decade as a professional drummer, Diana Petrell leaves her rock-star life behind to continue her residency in emergency medicine. She's determined not to let anything stop her - not even falling in love with her aloof mentor, Dr. Emily Barnes. Emily has only ever focused on her career as a senior attending in the emergency department, and she isn't happy about having to babysit a resident with a 10-year gap in her resume, no matter how intriguing she is. But every time they work together, it's not just their patients' heartbeat that gets a little irregular.

They say you can't go home again, but Raine St. James doesn't know why anyone would want to. Rory St. James was disowned after she came out at 17. She rebounded by moving to Chicago, changing her name to Raine and putting down her hometown to audiences around the country. Now, 10 years later, too old to be considered a gay youth, broke, evicted, and fresh off a much needed break-up, Raine St. James is forced to accept a job teaching at Bramble University in Darlington, the town she's been publicly bashing for the last decade.

Veterinarian Aislin O'Shea runs a busy clinic. She wasn't looking for a relationship. She’d already had the perfect one. She certainly wasn't attracted to fancy pants executive, Ms. Zane Whitman -- she wasn't her type. Zane Whitman had it all. Stellar career, wealth, exclusive social circle, and models vying for her attention. Impulsive, emotionally charged Aislin was not her type. Two women from the opposite side of the tracks. Neither one expects meddling from an unexpected source on the Other side. Neither one knows the train is coming.

Angel's memory loss cover story? Lame. Robbing a passing ruffian of his shirt to cover her naked body? NOT a good way to avoid attracting attention! As a science fiction geek, Kim felt herself uniquely qualified to watch Angel and thwart her dark mission...once the alien got around to it.
