Story
When she was 16 years old, Angela Wong - one of the most popular girls in school - disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever suspected that her best friend, Georgina Shaw, now an executive and rising star at her Seattle pharmaceutical company, was involved in any way. Certainly not Kaiser Brody, who was close with both girls back in high school. But 14 years later, Angela Wong's remains are discovered in the woods near Geo's childhood home.

Are you kidding me?!

Having the protagonist in a book not be a good person is okay with me. In fact certain character flaws can make them more relatable and thus more likeable. If this story ended realistically, I might have liked it. The only reason I continued to listen till the end was because I wanted to know how the author planned on wrapping it all up. But this author made me angry. It’s so frustrating when an author glorifies murderers, rapists and liars; that’s what this authors protagonist was. Geo, didn’t deserve a happy ending. And I am clueless on why the author thought she needed to give her one. She should be locked up for life or facing the death penalty. She cut up her best friend after watching her get raped, lied about it, laundered money in prison, killed her son and ex-boyfriend, and lied to the new baby daddy.
Jennifer Hillier please don’t let this be an example of what you think a human being should be like. Because that’s disgusting.

I am usually hesitant when it comes to Tami Hoag novels. Not because she isn’t good, but because her novels tend to have a little too much romance for me. I took a chance and am so happy I did. There was a hint of romance but the main focus was on the mystery. Loved it!!!

Just okay

The first book in this series is great. The ending wrapped everything up, described motives, provided explanations for actions and events and still left room for a sequel/series without leaving a cliff hanger - which can be frustrating.
This book started out the same way - great. It hooked me right in and I couldn’t stop listening.
But the ending just ruined it for me. It gave the answers to the questions the story presented but not the why’s.
And that’s the part of an ending that I love. Knowing why someone did what they did. The ending in Mercy left me baffled and confused by the outcomes/conclusion.

One of the best police procedural series!! Great book on its own but even better if you’ve read the earlier books.
