Since moving to Mystic Harbor, Maine, I've made it my life's mission to avoid Reese Blackburn at all costs. Sure, he has cheekbones that could cut glass, not to mention bedroom eyes that could melt any girl into a puddle on the floor. Too bad that doesn't change the fact he's completely stab-worthy. When a fun night out on the town turns deadly, I quickly discover the quaint little hamlet of Mystic Harbor houses more than sandy beaches and adorable B&Bs. Beneath the New England charm rests a world where shifters, demons, vampires, and angelic hunters all vie for power.

The story line had a lot of promise. And I enjoyed reading this story. However, it was really annoying that the author referred to the same person by several different names all in the same scene. The big reveal was also not a big suprise. I was more suprised by the identity of the sidekick than I was about Sitri. There was also a TON of unnecessary scenes that seemed to drag. The constant flashbacks in the middle of a scene was confusing and abrupt. Im hoping character development will be stronger in the next book because none of the deaths in this one upset me. *spoiler* I couldn't keep track of all her friends so it wasnt that impactful when they died.

Circe Quinn goes to sleep at home and wakes up in a corral filled with women wearing sacrificial virgin attire - and she is one of them. She soon finds out that she's not having a wild dream; she's living a frightening nightmare where she's been transported to a barren land populated by a primitive people, and in short order she's installed very unwillingly on a white throne of horns as their queen.

Couldnt even finish. Very offensive and heroine is weak. Unoriginal (GOT). Rape is not ok and should never be romanticize. As a survivor, I find this story repugnant.

Tenley "Ten" Lockwood is an average 17-year-old girl...who has spent the past 13 months locked inside the Prynne Asylum. The reason? Not her obsession with numbers but her refusal to let her parents choose where she'll live - after she dies. There is an eternal truth most of the world has come to accept: Firstlife is merely a dress rehearsal, and real life begins after death.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. The idea of a firstlife and a second life was intriguing. if I had been actually reading this book I would not have been able to finish. The story was slow and I had difficulty gaining interest in this fictional world. I also didn't feel any connections to the characters. I found Ten's obsession with numbers annoying. Her knowledge of numbers was trivial and childish.
I think this story was poorly exacuted. The realms were complex and poorly described. Ten was not likable. I didn't find myself in love with either male character. overall I am disappointed with this story and will not continue to waste my time with this series.

Unlike the previous books in the series, this one took awhile to get through. I felt that it was slow and uneventful. it was still a good read but not my favorite in the series.
