This is one of the best books I've listened to in a long time! The prose and descriptive writing style of Fedarko draws you in so you can you visualize the river, the currents, the political tensions, and tremendous feats of the grand canyon river guides. Anyone could pick up a historical book about the Grand Canyon, the Glenn canyon dam and all the related history, but if you want this story to come alive with beautiful writing, The Emerald Mile is the perfect choice! Love it!

John Pontius is one of the most inspiring and spiritual authors I've read. While some may feel his insights are too deep or "out on the fringe" the impressions I have had are that he speaks truth.

By the end of the book you'll be enamored with the characters! The ending is definitely a cliff hanger, but I guess that's what you want in a sequel.

Many of the things are similar to other books I've read, but there a several gems of insight that I liked. Such as "distance and distraction" and "turn a bad day into good data"... Well worth listening too.

With a brand new career, a young family, and a new heavy responsibility with my church, this book spoke to me in so many ways. I had already been clearing the clutter in my life to open up time for what matters most, however this book solidified my determination to do what is essential. It also gave me guidance on how to do things to make my life better. I will definitely re-listen and buy the hard copy or Kindle version for future reference.

This was a fairly good story, and the author does a great job bringing to life the settings with poetic-like accuracy. The book did get slow in some sections. I felt like the very end had a super abrupt twist that left me scratching my head, but I'm guessing that was the idea to set up the next book. I was not a big fan of the narrator.
