The Reluctant Messenger leads the listener through a doorway into another dimension that exists simultaneously with what most people would describe as reality. Author Candice Sanderson is a psychologist whose training taught her to engage her world by the physical senses. That all changed one morning when she began to receive messages from other realms of existence, and her ordinary life transformed as she embarked upon this extraordinary journey into the unknown.

I learned a lot from this summary, but still wish I had time to read the actual book. The narrator had really good diction and was easy to listen to. Overall, I would say this would be good for a student study guide.

Everyone she knows in the mer world is in jeopardy. But there’s one last hope: the siren must quickly come to depend solely on their newest member, Whitney. The only catch is she might not be a siren after all. Whitney was thrown into the mer world without her consent, but now she wants to stay. But she keeps running into the problem that she’s playing a game she doesn’t know all the rules to. As the only siren on the outside of the barrier surrounding their island, Whitney is the only chance to turn the balance for her clan. As the other clans gather to attack the siren, she just has to figure out how before it’s too late.

Loved this book! McMichael paints such a vividly, imaginative world of sea creatures and wraps it up perfectly. The narrator did a great job of helping to bring this world to life! Will listen to again!!!

The narration and story will pull you in and make you immediately care about what happens to the main characters. It contains raw emotions and realism. The narrator truly captures the author's intentions and helps you get lost in this world. Great audiobook!
