This much we do know: Sophie Toscan du Plantier was murdered days before Christmas in 1996, her broken body discovered at the edge of her property near the town of Schull in West Cork, Ireland. The rest remains a mystery. Gripping, yet ever elusive, join the real-life hunt for answers in the year’s first not-to-be-missed, true-crime series.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely not. Audible editors highly rated this book and I feel cheated using a credit to listen to this book

What was most disappointing about Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde ’s story?

Why did they have to repeat credits 15-20 times during the book. Maybe they were begging the audience to continue listening to this horror of a book. Actually there was no story.

How could the performance have been better?

Eliminate the multitude of interruptions.

If you could give West Cork a new subtitle, what would it be?

None - have no idea why this book was published.

Any additional comments?

I believe Audible should cease promoting this book.

Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

By far and w/o a doubt this was the WORST book I have listened to by this author.
There was much to much reposition of dialogue and story line.
I have listened to Audible books for about 20 years and this was the worst book read.
The narrator should never again be allowed to read for Audible.

  • The Zone of Interest

  • By: Martin Amis

The Zone of Interest is a love story with a violently unromantic setting. Can love survive the mirror? Can we even meet each other's eye, after we have seen who we really are? In a novel powered by both wit and pathos, Martin Amis excavates the depths and contradictions of the human soul.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The ability to understand what was supposed to be audible. It was impossible to follow the story because of the voice. The addition of the interjection of German was absurd

Would you ever listen to anything by Martin Amis again?

Yes. I have reared and listened to his books and for the most part found them interesting

What didn’t you like about Sean Barrett’s performance?

Could not follow or understand, voice garbled and irratic

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None - I know the WWII issues well.

Any additional comments?

Very sorry I ordered this book.

It's 1938 in San Francisco: A world's fair is preparing to open on Treasure Island, a war is brewing overseas, and the city is alive with possibilities. Grace, Helen, and Ruby, three young women from very different backgrounds, meet by chance at the exclusive and glamorous Forbidden City nightclub. Grace Lee, an American-born Chinese girl, has fled the Midwest with nothing but heartache, talent, and a pair of dancing shoes. Helen Fong lives with her extended family in Chinatown, where her traditional parents insist that she guard her reputation like a piece of jade.
