Once upon a time there was a version of our faith that was practically...irresistible. But that was then. Today we preach, teach, write, and communicate as if nothing has changed. As if “The Bible says it” still settles it. It’s time to hit pause on much of what we’re doing and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and humanly speaking, little chance of survival. What did they know that we don’t? What made their faith so compelling, so defensible, so irresistible? Buckle up...you’re about to find out.

In this book, Andy Stanley’s teaching gives me more confidence to feel and act how I’ve always believed Jesus followers are to be in our world of a growing population of unchurched. We don’t have to do it like my grandparents did it. We should be more focused on how Christ and His disciples did it and how our children will do it. Thank you for taking the risk, Andy.

The message of Created for Connection is simple: Forget about learning how to argue better, analyzing your early childhood, or making grand romantic gestures. Instead, get to the emotional underpinnings of your relationship by recognizing that you are attached to and dependent on your partner in much the same way that a child is on a parent and we are on the Heavenly Father for nurturing, soothing, and protection.

There are audiobooks where women narrators perform several male voices that are distinctly different. This narration was in perfect tone for the content of this book. But the voices for all male characters and female characters were very monotonously the same. This could have been intensional but it became monotonous after a few chapters. Overall, it was a good performance, though.

This is a basic lecture series with a few good points and stories sprinkled in from time to time. Most of it is common sense, though.
