Navy men don't come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can't he handle one 15-year-old girl? His ex's death left him a single dad overnight and very unprepared. Though he can't relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe - until the day she disappears. Though Pete's lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie's in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.

I've waited forever for this book, and it was so worth the wait! I loved the characters, plot, and narration. Bhani Turpin voiced Shayla to perfection. It was also refreshing to have a black actress voice a black character. May not seem important to some, but frankly I'm tired of listening to white actresses voice black characters. Depending on the narrator it comes across as a caricature and downright offensive. I've never felt this way with any of Brockmann's books, though, but the narrator can make or break a book, so excellent choice! Thanks for such a wonderful distraction from the travails of my life.

He's content to watch his brothers become thoroughly domesticated. Zoe's had nothing but heartbreak in her life, and she's determined to start over with a completely new identity, thanks to her college friend Rusty Kelly. But it's the gorgeous smile and tender words of Joe Kelly that begin to weaken her resolve to never risk her heart again.

The last 4 books in this series seem more like another series by MB, and not KGI. The insta love and focus on relationship more than action is so UTTERLY disappointing. And I understand the need for vulnerability in the female characters, but geez!! Dail it back a little, will you? If I wanted that level of weakness I would have read the Enforcers series. And the repetition!!! Just wow......The last book in this series that had a good balance of relationship to action was Cole and PJ's story. I felt that this storyline was too watered down. For Joe to get so upset over Zoe's emotional treatment just felt too silly. I am holding out for Rusty and Sean's story only because I have been waiting for YEARS to read it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a hard hitting, action packed story with a little love in between. MB has spent years cultivating this character--please do her justice!!

I love a novel that is chock cull of complex characters, and an author who understands that motive is as important as action. Thanks again for an engaging read. The narrators were also PERFECT!

The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy. Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park's ice skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be. Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with the NYPSD, but never one like this. After reviewing security videos, it becomes clear that the victims were killed by a sniper firing a tactical laser rifle, who could have been miles away when the trigger was pulled.

Awesome story, scary bad guys, great performance. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. Eve, as always, is at her best. (Here is where the character analysis begins) At this point, though, I am at odds with Eve's constant ability to do all things right, even when she is wrong. I would love to discover how Eve would handle a loss of someone in her inner circle. How would she behave as the survivor? Her friends have lost loved ones, even Roarke has experienced a loss in his youth, but what about Eve? Would such a loss set her back to the point she couldn't do her job as effectively? Would it make her an even better detective? Would she push away or draw closer? Eve is not a simple character but at this point I have her figured out. I would love for her to surprise me like she used to! She's certainly not boring, but she is getting a bit predictive.
