Loved it! I learned a lot about how the relationships between the FBI and the president works. I think less of this president now but I am beginning to realize how important he will be in the growth of our society. The forest fire analogy is perfect. As with all fires there will be pain and destruction. We will see if America is up to the test.

A razor-sharp thinker offers a new understanding of our post-truth world and explains the American instinct to believe in make-believe, from the Pilgrims to P. T. Barnum to Disneyland to zealots of every stripe...to Donald Trump. In this sweeping, eloquent history of America, Kurt Andersen demonstrates that what's happening in our country today - this strange, post-factual, "fake news" moment we're all living through - is not something entirely new, but rather the ultimate expression of our national character and path.

I loved this book. It made me realize that the fourth branch of government(populace) is responsible for the predicament we are in right now. When we as a people are so gullible, ignorant, delusional do we actually deserve to govern ourselves in a democracy. Apparently not because we are more than willing to hand over the reigns to an authoritarian. We as a country have a philosophical crisis as to how we determine truth. Thank you Mr. Andersen for explaining how this has been a core rot at the center of our society since the beginning.
