But then, an invitation to London on a mission of mercy from the very family who cast her aside lands her back in society - and into the arms of a man who is nothing but trouble. Wealthy American businessman Mason is a) accidentally engaged, b) desperate to get out of it, and c) neither wealthy nor a businessman. This storyline seemed like one written by Lucinda Brant and her French outspoken heroine, except we have NB as the narrator instead of Alex Wyndham ( another extraordinary narrator). Storyline seems like a book in her series Nobel Satyr, so it sounded a bit redundant to me.

A bit more passion also than I am used to for Elizabeth Kingston, however, a cute storyline. Nicholas Boulton is my favorite narrator and he truly adds so much to the storyline ❤️

"It is the heart of this place, and it is dying," says the Beast. And it is true; the center of the Beast's palace, the glittering glasshouse that brings Beauty both comfort and delight in her strange new environment, is filled with leafless brown rosebushes. But deep within this enchanted world, new life, at once subtle and strong, is about to awaken. Twenty years ago Robin McKinley enthralled listeners with the power of Beauty. Now this extraordinarily gifted novelist retells the story of Beauty and the Beast again - but in a totally new way, with fresh perspective, ingenuity, and mature insight.

The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical - he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The simplest solution is to hire a paid companion. Finding the right candidate proves more of a challenge than he expected.

Not a very well developed storyline as not much happened throughout the book except a 45 min piece two hours before the end. Took me days to finish when I take only a day to finish books double this length when engaging. Good performance. I’m sorry that the story holds her stars back as well.
