Seyonne is a man waiting to die. He has been a slave for 16 years, almost half his life, and has lost everything of meaning to him: his dignity, the people and homeland he loves, and the Warden's power he used to defend an unsuspecting world from the ravages of demons. Seyonne has made peace with his fate. With strict self-discipline he forces himself to exist only in the present moment and to avoid the pain of hope or caring about anyone.

Kevin Stillwell does an awesome rendition of this character. Very well done! I've enjoyed the book since I was a teenager, but this format combined with a great performance lands it in my favorites. Considering the way the book is written, I think this is the best way to experience the story.

Life should have been easier for Sonea, now that Regin ignored her and the rest of the novices treated her with wary respect, but she cannot forget what she witnessed in Akkarin's underground room, or his warning that Kyralia's ancient enemy is watching the Guild closely.

Narrator performance was completely different from how I read it as a child, but it was interesting to hear it in a different style. He has an impressive range of voices and accents. My only qualm is that the voices he used for certain characters were inconsistent throughout the series.

Wow! What a terrific storyteller! Definitely recommend. The book is one I enjoyed as a teenager when it first came out, and the narrator Gerard Doyle more than does it justice.
