This is an amazing book. If you have watched the movie(which was also awesome!) you'll find the book a little different. Of course it's impossible to fit a 47 hour long book into a 2.5 hour movie. The book is 47 hours long and has 119 chapters. So I recommend you listening to this book as if you're watching a tv series otherwise it may take over your life - so expect to listen to it over a period of time. The narrator is as good as the story itself. This will be one of the best books you'll have listened to. Download it and enjoy! :)

The book was interesting. It opens your eyes to opportunities in life that's lost just because you're too stupid (or proud) to take advantage of. I have applied some of its principles and am enjoying benefits from it. Not an amazing book, but definitely something to consider.

Ancient Egypt. Land of the Pharaohs. A kingdom built on gold. A legend shattered by greed. Now the Valley of Kings lies ravaged by war, drained of its lifeblood, as weak men inherit the cherished crown. On the eve of the festival of Osiris, the loyal subjects of the Pharaoh gather in Thebes to pay tribute to their leader.

Exploding with all the passion and rage of a bygone time, River God is a masterpiece of historical writing.

This is just an absolutely amazing book! The story and the narrator were excellent. I must say that I was quite shocked to find out that in ancient Egypt they married girls who were 12 years old. Also, I was a little disturbed by the reference of masters having slave boys which nowadays is definitely child molestation. I guess hitorically speaking, that's what life was like back then. I must say that the narrator was fantastic. Just to give you an idea, when Taita was telling about the day he was made an eunuch, the narrator told it so well that as I was driving home from work, I literally almost fainted - I had to pull over and recompose myself. I guess it was so real that it felt like I was there watching the castration being done. The story itself was amazing. This is another must listen.

The world of ancient Egypt springs magnificently to life in this astonishing historical novel of love, war, political intrigue, and religious revolution. Told from the first person point of view, it is the story of Sinuhe, physician to the royal court of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and his successors in the middle of the tumultuous 14th century B.C.

This was an excellent book. I'm definitely going to get volume 2 for I'm curious to see how the story unveils. I wonder if Sinue is ever going to see Nepha Nepha again. I'm also going to rent the movie and watch it as there is an old Hollywood version of "the Egiptian". If you like anything Egiptian you must listen to this book. Really, it was just awesome!

This book is a reality check for all the lazy and irresponsible people out there. People have the habit of saying, "I need to MAKE more money," and complain. What they do need is "to EARN more money"! So use your brain and you can be a winner. Unfortunately in life there are "winners" and "loosers" and this book may not be the right choice for "lazy people" because it will hurt their feelings. But if you have a winning attitude who's fallen behind a little in managing your money, this is definetely the right book for you.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A masterpiece like none other, Brooks’ powerful performance of Haley’s words has been known to leave listeners in tears. It begins with a birth in an African village in 1750, and ends two centuries later at a funeral in Arkansas. And in that time span, an unforgettable cast of men, women, and children come to life, many of them based on the people from Alex Haley's own family tree.
