The cast and performance, not to mention the story itself, made it so i lost all self control and listened to the audiobook straight through... I'm actually a little embarrassed, it doesn't usually happen...
That said, i highly recommend this book to anyone with a love of discovery and adventure. Top marks and all that...

We all have inner demons. We fight them all the time. Some of us achieve inner peace by coming to terms with them. But how do you come to terms with inner demons that tear free and become outer demons? Eric has been a vampire for nearly a century, and his demons are more than metaphors. While they controlled him, he was the Demon King. Now he has to avoid the monsters in his own mind, as well as angry nobles, fanatical religions, assassins, magi, other vampires, criminal organizations, and more.

Equipped with skills far beyond those of the outworlders, Rezkin has been suddenly thrust into a foreign world. The young warrior clings to his only known purpose as he continues his search for any information about his identity and the reason for his existence. While the hardened warrior scorns both dueling and tournaments, he believes some of the answers he seeks may be found at the King's Tournament, the greatest dueling championship in all of the kingdoms.

The character growth in this story never ceases to impress me. Rezkins' childlike, and psychologically stunted, mindset keeps the horrid situations strangely lighthearted while the actions of his personas show sociopathic logic. it's devilishly entertaining.
