But when she gets knocked up and her asshat boyfriend leaves her high and dry, Nicola's perfectly crafted world comes tumbling down. This story wasn’t bad but the narrators did not match well with this book. The male character narrating the female characters voice made me cringe. I got through because I hate not finishing a book but I would not recommend this audio to anyone.

Just call me Mister O. Because your pleasure is my superpower. Making a woman feel "oh god that's good" is the name of the game, and if a man can't get the job done, he should get the hell out of the bedroom. I'm talking toe-curling, mind-blowing, sheet-grabbing ecstasy. Like I provide every time. I suppose that makes me a superhero of pleasure, and my mission is to always deliver.

I loved other Kearsley books. I read the reviews for this book and almost didn't buy it because of all the negative reviews towards the narrator. I listened to the preview and didn't mind her voice at all. So I bought it! I was floored with the talent of the narrator. Her voice didn't bother me at all plus she narrated multiple accents and characters with such talent! The story was good but the narration was awesome! I will definitely look for other books narrated by Katherine Kellgren!

Mildred Lathbury is a clergyman's daughter and a mild-mannered spinster in 1950s England. She is one of those excellent women - the smart, supportive, repressed women whom men take for granted. As Mildred gets embroiled in the lives of her new neighbors - anthropologist Helena Napier; Helen's handsome, dashing husband, Rocky; and Julian Malory, the vicar next door - the novel presents a series of snapshots of human life as actually, and pluckily, lived.

I felt like I was listening to someone reading my grandmothers uneventful diary. By far the least interesting book I've ever listened to. I wanted to give it up but I hate doing that. I don't like having a dnf on my reading list. I respect writers and all their talents. This may be a good read for some but I'm really not sure who.

I love historical fiction but this was a struggle to get through. The reader was great but I didn't fall in love with any of the characters. I didn't want to clean my house or wash dishes just to listen to the book. I've liked other Philippa Gregory books but this one was a struggle to get through.
