Ulysses S. Grant's life has typically been misunderstood. All too often he is caricatured as a chronic loser and an inept businessman or as the triumphant but brutal Union general of the Civil War. But these stereotypes don't come close to capturing him, as Chernow reveals in his masterful biography, the first to provide a complete understanding of the general and president whose fortunes rose and fell with dizzying speed and frequency.

What a great man. What a well written and well read story. Listen, learn, wonder, and weep. Grant finished what Lincoln started.

What did you like best about No Rest for the Wicked? What did you like least?

The narrator was excellent, however the story drags on. Too much detail about the games.

I couldnt finish it. However, I am willing to try another book in the series because the author got great reviews. The premise for the series is good so I am willing to give it another chance. I didnt really love the narrators voice for the main male character. He sounded too growly.

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir - half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing. Now Dory's vampire father has come back into her life. Her uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison.

Okay, I love all of Karen Chance's other books and I was excited to read this one because it was a spin off from the Cassandra Palmer series....however it was not good enough. I wonder if it was just the narrator??? I wish they had the same narrator for this book as the CP Series because most of the characters are the same. However, They dont sound the same in this book, Mercea has a horrible accent, Louie Cesare doesnt sound french, he sounds German, and the main character Dorina sounds like shes 50 years old. I couldnt even get through the first part. If you havent heard the CP series then you might like this book, otherwise it will not be what you expected.
