Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

This book reminded me of Daemon & Freedom(tm)! Great tech science fiction. I would sometimes sit in my car when I got home from work because the story was that good! Although slow at first, the story and characters are worth the wait and WOW does it pay off big time. The climax is epic.

Refereed to as the "Singularity Series" the order is not critical but added to my enjoyment of the story:
1) Avogadro (most realistic - best characters)
2) AI Apocalypse (best action - my favorite of the series- WOW - What an ending!!)
3) The Last Firewall (least realistic - but still a great story - another great climax)

While I'm not a coffee drinker, I might become one after spending so much time enjoying this series. Great books - strongly recommend if you like tech science fiction.

When the obituary of legendary computer game architect Matthew Sobol appears online, a previously dormant daemon activates, initiating a chain of events that begins to unravel our interconnected world. This daemon reads news headlines, recruits human followers, and orders assassinations. With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.

Is it possible that Daemon is in a new genre - "AI SciFi?" This book reminds me so much of the feelings I had when I first saw Matrix. Mind blowing! After you read this book you never look at a computer the same way again.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

What made the experience of listening to Ready Player One the most enjoyable?

This book was a great 80's throw back, with lots of retro 80's humor. While this book isn't for everyone, anyone who was a greek in the 1980's will enjoy the humor, adventure and writing style of this book.

Comparing Google to an ordinary business is like comparing a rocket to an Edsel. No academic analysis or bystanders account can capture it. Now Doug Edwards, Employee Number 59, offers the first inside view of Google, giving readers a chance to fully experience the bizarre mix of camaraderie and competition at this phenomenal company. I'm Feeling Lucky captures for the first time the unique, self-invented, yet profoundly important culture of the world's most transformative corporation.

Next great tech drama movie!

Watch out "Social Network" and "Pirates of Siicon Valley" the next great tech movie is contained within the pages this book. I also enjoyed to Jeff Jarvis's "WWGD" and "In the Plex" but this book has great personal drama as well as the interesting Google Story. You can relate the Doug as he takes you on his journey through the world of search, working hard to understand the Google Culture and create a better world. This guy is an awesome writer and a wonderful story teller. I can't wait to see the movie!! I've only written a few reviews but this book is so good I wanted to recommend it to others. This book is not the usual "yada-yada!" Awesome book! Highly recommended!!

I remember hearing these stories years ago on tape. It was such a treat to find them at Audible. The story is awesome. This radio drama includes a talented cast with real star wars sounds and great music. It's a "must hear" for every Star Wars fan. The only bummer is the missing part three - Is there a SW:Dark Empire Part III anywhere?
