Continuing her phenomenal Falcon Club series, author Katharine Ashe enchants with this tale of a woman kidnapped as a child by pirates and returned years later to her English family. She must now learn how to be a cultured lady and to navigate the treacherous waters of love with the notorious sea captain who brought her, kicking and screaming, back to society. This is witty, emotionally rich, and wonderfully imaginative storytelling that listeners of Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, and Johanna Lindsey will absolutely adore.

When a prominent Scottish family faces a major scandal weeks before their daughter’s wedding, they turn in desperation to the enigmatic fixer for the aristocracy, Nichol Bain. Remarkably skilled at making high-profile problems go away, Nichol understands the issue immediately. The family’s raven-haired ward, Maura Darby, has caught the wandering eye - and rather untoward advances - of the groom. Nichol assuredly escorts Maura toward his proposed solution: an aging bachelor for her to marry. But rebellious Maura has no interest in marrying a stranger.

I loved this story. So much better than the previous audible fare of the series. Beautiful Maura is 25 and under the care and escort of Mr Nichol Bain, aged 32. Two people without families come together on this "putting a situation to rights" adventure. These are both nice people - lost, homeless, nameless, and penniless. And it's perfectly performed by the most talented Derek Perkins. I love his Scotsmen!

Don't delay on this book. I listened to it in 1 weekend. Credit worthy! YES Leannán!

What's a young woman with a tarnished reputation to do when holed up in a tiny inn during a Christmas snow storm? Fall in love with the handsome Scotsman - or is he English? But he speaks French and Latin, too? Who is this gorgeous man? Scoundrel? Barbarian? or spy? Will he catch you on lingering in the stairwell for a hot kiss or give it to you noisily on the kitchen counter until the cops are alerted? So sexy!

I love this narrator. She's one of my favorites so it felt as though I was listening to Elisa Braden or Sophie Darling's books, which I have all read/listened to. Although the Scots burr was difficult to understand at times I found it quite enjoyable.

Painfully shy Jane Huxley is the furthest thing from a diamond of the first water. Bookish, bespectacled, and, well, plain, she never expected to befriend a dissolute charmer like Colin Lacey, much less agree to help him retrieve a lost family heirloom. Fortunately, he is nothing like his cold, rigid older brother. Unfortunately, he is not above deception if it means winning a wager. And that puts Jane in a most precarious position. For Harrison Lacey, the Duke of Blackmore, protecting his family honor is not a choice, it is a necessity.

Miss Sarah Battersby is in dire need of a man, preferably one skilled at deception. Upon her father's death, she will be left with no home and nary a penny. With time running out, she must either accept the proposal of a man she loathes or stall long enough to secure a teaching position by telling one teensy, trifling lie - that she is promised to someone else...who doesn't technically exist.

Another incredible book from Kerrigan and Derek! I listened to it in 1 day as I couldn't stop listening. The dark, tortured soul of Kerrigan's heroes emerges again as the Rook (Ash) has his own story with his beloved Lorelai. If I wrote anymore it would give away the mystery and the secrets revealed at the end.

It's totally worth the wait and the credit. You must get this one but you need to read/hear Book 1, The Highlander to set the story.

I love Derek Perkins!!
