On the borderland between this world and the world of Quiddity, the sea of our dreams, sits Everville. For years, it has lived in ignorance of the gleaming shore on which it lies. But its ignorance is not bliss. Opening the door between worlds, Clive Barker delivers his characters into the heart of the human mystery; into a place of revelation, where the forces that have shaped our past - and are ready to destroy our future - are at work.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Overall interesting idea, but felt like 2/3rds of the book could have been been cut out and would not have missed it.

The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

I went into this book with high hopes, but after reading a couple of other's reviews I too see the flaws in this book. I read this book some time after the author's other book "14", and both books tend to follow the same story pattern: intriguing mystery dealing with "science" and other dimensions, then it jumps into quick intense action at the end where you don't really care about the people anymore. Once the mystery of the other worlds is revealed, there isn't much draw to the story anymore.

Narrator did a great job playing all the different roles though.

Pilot X is Ambassador of the Alendans, a race with the ability to move through space and time as guardians of the timeline. Locked in ongoing conflict with the Sensaurians, an organic hive mind that can send messages in thought throughout its own history, and the Progons, a machine race who can communicate backwards in time, Pilot X finally manages to create peace among the three races.

This book was great to listen to, the narrator does a great job with the different characters. The story jumps around (as expected with time travel) and makes trying to keep up with the plot interesting and does a good job with pacing. The other characters may not be completely fleshed out as much as you'd like, but that's understandable with such a short story. Wish it was longer, or had a follow up book about Pilot X. “Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes Entry”
