This was a good story that was well told- a bit slow at times- but it was interesting and believable. The narrative was on point and the characters distinguishable.

Welp, I have to admit that I was way wrong on this one- I was so angry With Mal(and you too Ms Beverly)for what y'all did to Bernadine! And the thought of him showing his face again made me swear to not purchase another book in this series! However; the old saying is true" never say never"! My curosity got the better of me-well I am a resident of Henry Adams(in my mind- lol) so I had to see what happened.I won't spoil it- but let me say, I'm happy I did! Cudos, you brought it all home!

This story reminded me of why I stopped getting any of Weber's books! Too damn much violence! If you like a story with lots of murder, blood and treacherous villians-this is for you! In my opinion he took the Duncan family way past the dark side,no room for compassion, and I was just on the second chapter a before I yelled "uncle"! Cold,ruthless- not my cup of tea!

Too Tragic!!

If you're interested in a story that has a realistic and "feel good" end- this ain't it!! This was tragedy on top of tragedy! Of the four women, one,( maybe) showed promise.None of the other three concluded with any promise,in my opinion. Again, in my opinion concluding with tragedy, treachery, and painful loss is not conducive to a good story. I was throughly disappointed.

First of it was narrated very well,to my surprise, I'd heard this gentleman before and didn't care for his voice, this story was very well read and appealing. I also loved how other characters - from a previous book (, Sitting in the Front Pew) were Incorporated into the story, made it more interesting for me, heart warming and exciting story!
