This story brings up a subject we all struggle with at some point in our lives: are we being true to ourselves. Are we living our life in a way that nurtures our spirit and the spirits of those we love most?

Rachel Parker never planned on going back home. But when a terrible accident abruptly ends her riding career, she has little choice but to return to Pennsylvania and rebuild the family horse farm. Not everyone is happy to see Rachel, though - someone is vandalizing her property, leaving ominous warnings she can’t ignore. It’s as if the creep knows her. As if he’s watching her. Police Chief Mike O’Connell never counted on Rachel Parker getting in his way. Mike is frustrated as his investigation turns up too many suspects and a shockingly turbulent past Rachel refuses to discuss.

This book has a good basic plot, but not easy to get through. The writing was geared more for a teen audience except for the far too many steamy chapters. This diminished the story line in my opinion.

Another wonderful story from Catherine! I loved every page! I would recommend this book to any teen or adult. It addresses so many challenges that life can throw at you without warning, and demonstrates how friendship and kindness can help conquer fear.

Ella Ginsberg's brother, Simon, has disappeared. His clothing, shoes, and watch were found abandoned near a freight line track in Central California. His jockey shorts and wallet were never found. The police have no clue, and Simon's wife had no warning that anything was wrong. Ella takes off on foot across much of California and Arizona, thinking she can find Simon using nothing but her knowledge of the way he might think. Her search leads her to the Navajo Nation in Arizona.

This is not one of my favorite stories by this author. I had a bit of trouble trying to figure out just what the plot was. It seemed a confusing story about sad, confused characters trying to find meaning in their lives.

For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive. After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice - and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead.
