The story was like an enticing drink I gulped down only to be left with a flat taste in my mouth. True, it was the story I'd been waiting to read--the wedding of Edward/Theodore 'Ted' Forrester and Donna Parnell--but the larger, overall storyline didn't seem to advance.

Raised in a strict religious cult since she was a young girl, Jenna has no connection to the outside world beyond vague flashes of memory that seem to be from another life. Memories she clings to when the cult leaders discover her extraordinary ability to heal - and punish her. Years held captive and forced to do the cult's bidding have turned Jenna into a meek, timid woman...or so they think. In truth she is merely biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to escape.

After having read the other books in this series, perhaps my expectations were too high. The male protagonist appeared too needed with his constantly spouts of 'I love you' and 'I want to protect you' throughout the majority of the story. It was as if the author didn't have enough of a story so she decided to add these to flesh it out. A pity because the story, and the narrator, was just what kept my interest going.

This book was so far under my expectations that I had to force myself to finish it. It was so contrived with such a poor storyline that I felt embarrassed. Max, the heroine, has to be one of the dimmest, bigoted, egotistical characters I had ever read. The majority of the story was about connived scenarios in her mind that she imposed on Treat, the hero. Half the time, I wanted to smack her so her mind could slide into the right slot. The author has the ability to write a good story she just needs to write the 'right' story.

From the blockbuster bestselling author of the Eve Duncan novels comes a new, stand alone thriller about a woman with a photographic memory who has lived her life in the Witness Protection Program. What she once put her entire family in jeopardy and now, years later, her cover is blown. She’s on the run, and the lives of those she holds dear hang in the balance. As only Iris Johansen can do, you won’t see the twists coming.

It's sad but Iris Johansen's heroines have fallen into the habit of being formulaic: women with quasi-toughness that come off as just plain stupid. Teresa/Allie behaves like a spoiled child as she tries asset her independence. It's a wonder that Mandak doesn't put her over his knee. But he's not too smart either giving into her childish tantrums whenever she wants her way. Ms. Johansen is far too talent to write at this juvenile level.

I've been waiting, with baited breath, for this novel to come to Audible, (I'm an avid Christine Feehan reader) but the realization is vastly different from the dream.

The story, an somewhat continuation/spin-off of Feehan's Drake Sisters series, lacked substance. The premise, a story about another of the gifted Prakenskii brothers coming to Sea Haven where he is 'saved' by an unusual woman, was more a case of 'her' story instead of his. His character wasn't never really fleshed out, and as for the woman's character of a kind of fluctuating autistic, I found unbelievable.

The only parts of the story that made this a 'Sea Haven' novel were the vague references to the Drake weddings, the death of Stravros Gratsos and sinking of his' yacht, and introduction of Jonas Harrington and Hannah (Drake) Harrington into the story; otherwise, this read like a racy Harlequin romance.
