A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Such an inspiring story of Edith’s past throughout the Holocaust and Auschwitz but amazing journey along the way where she goes through trials and resists the imprisonment of her own mind. Great read.

Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

I wasn’t really thrilled with this book. This was my first presale and after reading the summary I couldn’t wait til it came available. I didn’t not think it lived up to the hype, though the descriptions do bring images to life, I just didn’t love the story. It left me wanting more... more detail, more depth, more feeling.

The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

So ridiculously inspiring in a way that truly makes you take action and rebuild your story. So good, I’ve recommended it constantly. I loved the asides in the audio version that you don’t get in book format.

This is the shortest book I’ve yet purchased on Audible, however the plot summary drew me in and I decided to give it a listen. This book was so good, I didn’t want to stop listening. I cried at the end, but could’ve sobbed a few more times had I not been in public with headphones on. The story isn’t just sad though, it’s inspiring and shows you how the tiny things make you connected to another. Loved this message and this book!
