In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

I was turned on to the series once I saw the preview for the upcoming movie. I love fantasy books and figured if the series was as long as it is, it must be good. Man was I wrong. This is the worst book I've ever had. I struggled to get through the first book and I was completely unimpressed. Nothing about the book captured or excited me. I was not drawn to the characters at all. I've always wanted to jump into Steven Kings books but after this crappy book I won't waste my money.

Combat veteran and author Hans Halberstadt takes listeners deeper inside the elusive world of snipers than ever before, from recruitment and training to the brutality of the killing fields. Based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews, Halberstadt gets inside the sniper mind and shows how snipers think and interact with each other, how missions are planned and executed, how the weapons work, and even what happens when a bullet finally strikes its target.

There are only a few hundred snipers from all the services put together in combat at any one time, making this true inside story a rare and important event.

I love this book and how it was put together. We get an inside look at several different teams and get to hear their stories. I'd suggest listening to this book if you like true and uncensored stories from the men who put their butts on the line and their eye behind the scope.

This is a fantastic book and makes you feel like you are right there with him. Jay is a true hero and one bad ass dude as well the rest of the agents involved. I've listened to this book many times and it never gets old.

I did not enjoy this book at all. I love apocalyptic books and the books that chronicle a characters attempt to survive. This book was a big let down. I am amazed that there were more books added to the series. The plot was weak and the parts of the book that were suppose to be exciting ended up dull and boring. Sorry if this sounds rude but I was looking for another series to start and I seemed to have wasted my time and money.

This is a fantastic series. The author spent his time adding in great detail to give the reader a clear image of what was occurring. I love the plot and the pit falls that Battle faces. I was surprised to find out that the story takes place in my town and surrounding area. I'll think of this book everytime I go to Palo Duro Canyon. I hope there are many more books in this series.
