Might be a good book but the narrators voice for the three year old is so annoying, I just can listen any longer. Oddly, I’ve enjoyed the narrator previously, but I can’t handle her this time.

I tried this because I love her Ruth Galloway series., but what a disappointment. While narration was mostly fine, the story itself was disjointed and the ending sounded like a ghost story told around a campfire. Returning this one.

The Jackson Brodie series introduced me to Kate Atkinson, and I confess I live in hope of more Jackson. Having said that, I will add that I always read and recommend anything by Kate Atkinson.
I listened to Transcription pretty much non-stop for two days. It’s that good. My only issue was in keeping the many characters, and their relationships to Juliet, in order in my head. I had to back up a few times to remind myself who did what. Some days I can barely recall my friends’ names, so take that with a grain of salt. There were a couple of dangling threads in the story that nagged at me but were tied up in the denouement, causing a mental Ahhh! So gratifying.
Unlike another reviewer, I think Fenella Woolgar performed beautifully! I had no trouble understanding her and will now search for more books performed by her. I like her as an actress and she was an ideal reader for this book.
While in my doctor’s waiting room, I read the People Magazine review. The words, witty, sassy, and hilarious(ly) were used in the review, which made me wonder if the book was actually read by the reviewer. The humor is of the dry, British kind, which I like, but if there was hilarity, I missed it somehow. Personally, I would describe Juliet as gutsy, rather than sassy.
All in all, a very satisfying read.

I might like this book in written form but the reader displays all the expression of a seventh grader reading his book report to the class. And he can't do female voices worth a darn.

I guess I’ve been spoiled by some of her better reads, like Shopaholic and Can You Keep A Secret because this didn’t nearly measure up. I found my attention wandering so much that several chapters went by before I realized I’d quit listening. When I backed up to try again, the same thing happened. This just didn’t compare to her usual standard and I’m returning it.

This is the kind of book that makes you hope you've stumbled across one in a huge series.
Sadly, that isn't the case but I'll go on to his second, Righteous, and hope Joe Ide is writing as fast as he can.
Excellent narration by Sullivan Jones. What a great team!

Predictable. The villain was obvious even before a crime was committed. Katherine Kellgren's narration is marginally better than in previous books but is often frenetic and over the top. Her voice for Belinda sets my teeth on edge and Figg's voice is like a child playing at being posh. And, unlike some reviewers, I miss Queenie!
