Where does Killing Lincoln rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I thought the book itself was fine, but I wanted someone to shoot me before I finished listening to it. Why do so many authors feel the need to read their books? Usually the narration is awful and this is no exception. Just because you wrote it, doesn't mean you should read it. I felt like I was listening to one of Bill O'Reilly's commentaries from The O'Reilly Factor. He constantly mispronounces certain words and his pronunciation of George Atzerodt’s last name was different than I’ve ever heard before. I suppose if you're a fan of Bill O'Reilly, you will enjoy it... I didn’t think he shed any new light on the Lincoln assassination that hasn’t already been written about.

What a great book! I'm not much of a dog person, but Enzo had me from the very beginning. This is such a great story of love, devotion, and doing the right thing. Listen and enjoy this won't be sorry!

The Virgin Blue audiobook cover art

The Virgin Blaw

The Virgin Blue was torture to get through. Ella Turner was a very dislikable character, made even more so by the narrator. I could not stand to listen to her voice. I did like the Isabelle character and her narrator. I would have preferred to have read an entire book about her and to have dumped that irritating Ella entirely. I felt the book was way too contrived...if this had been my first Tracy Chevalier book to read, I might not have read any others.

My Favorite Audio Book

This is my favorite book to listen to! I guess it's a book that you either really love, or really hate. I've recommended it to several friends and they've all loved it. Ron McLarty did a super job narrating it...I caught myself laughing out (probably to the irritating of people around me). Give this book a listen, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I couldn't stop listening to this book! Leslie Uggams does such a great job narrating, that I felt I was right there in the story. The music was a good choice also. I was a little disappointed in the way it ended, but all-in-all it is a thoughtful, well written and well read book.

Loving Frank audiobook cover art

Interesting Account of a Relationship

4 out of 5 stars

This is a facinating account of a the "scandalous" affair between Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwich Cheney. I couldn't help thinking how selfish Mamah was to leave her family for FLW and I don't understand how that really helped the women's movement, since she was supposed to have been a big feminist. The embarassment both of their families suffered was great as they were hounded by the press and snubbed by former friends, after the affair was brought to light in the newspapers. The story does drag in places and the narrator's voice drove me crazy at times, especially when she was speaking as FLW.

I certainly would recommend resisting the urge to Google information about this couple as you will spoil the ending for yourself...I did and I regreted doing so.

Gilead audiobook cover art

A suprisingly good read!

4 out of 5 stars

Gilead was the selection of the month for our book club and I had a preconceived notion that I would not like it. I can say now that I was wrong. It was a most enjoyable book and Tim Jerome did a wonderful job reading it. He was a very entertaing and believable Reverend John Ames. I would recommend this book.
