This is not so much a review of the book and story of Mathew. As I feel to review this as a "Typical" book does not do justice for the purpose and reason behind the publication of Mathews' story. But to hope that whom ever takes the time to read or listen to this account may walk away with a little more Exceptance, Compassion and Understanding. First and foremost to help Erase Hate. Thank you Shepard family for sharing your life and son Mathew with the world. Thank You Matthew for being just who you were. Not by your choices but by a greater power those things are put in place to make this a more tolerant place to live. Thank You!

I was counting down the months until the end of my deployment. My days were spent working on military vehicles, and I spent my nights playing video games that would distract me until I could leave staff sergeant Garrett Reid behind. That was when I met him: Kai Bannon, a fellow gamer with a famous stream channel. I never expected to become fixated on someone who'd initially been a rival. And I'd never expected someone who oozed charm to notice me - a guy known for his brutal honesty and scowl.

Though Anderson Cooper has always considered himself close to his mother, his intensely busy career as a journalist for CNN and CBS affords him little time to spend with her. After she suffers a brief but serious illness at the age of ninety-one, they resolve to change their relationship by beginning a yearlong conversation unlike any they have ever had before. The result is a correspondence of surprising honesty and depth in which they discuss their lives, the things that matter to them, and what they still want to learn about each other.

To hear this life story told in their own voice touched a deep place in my soul. It brought to light many things I had barried deep, things I had wanted barried. But as the light shown on them the harshness seemed to fade a bit. To hear them tell their story both different but yet alike in so many ways. I was able to take from them both a way to hopefully heal from the past and move forward. Thanks Anderson and Gloria.

One of the comedy world's fastest-rising stars tells his wild coming of age story during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. Noah provides something deeper than traditional memoirists: powerfully funny observations about how farcical political and social systems play out in our lives.
