Timothy Carrier, having a beer after work at his friend's tavern, enjoys drawing eccentric customers into amusing conversations. But the jittery man who sits next to him tonight has mistaken Tim for someone very different and passes to him a manila envelope full of cash. "Ten thousand now. You get the rest when she's gone."

I was quite suprised at how well this book was put together. I love the narrator! I have listened to several books he has done and his voice is so soothing and interesting. It makes the book come alive for me, taking me to that place only a good book can. RELAXATION!!!

I was a bit perplexed at the ending. Definitly not what I had envisioned, but it was interesting! I think he left it open for a second in this series and if so, I will be buying it as well!

If you enjoy a good relaxing book, you can listen to while driving, cooking, sitting at the park or going on a long walk. This book is for you!!

In a wealthy Minneapolis neighborhood, two elderly women are bludgeoned to death. They are apparent victims of a random robbery, though nothing of value appears to have been stolen. But when Lucas Davenport looks deeper, he fears that the victims weren’t so random, and the items stolen were far from invaluable. As a pattern emerges it leads Lucas to...certainly not where he expected. Which is too bad, because the killers are expecting him. And that’s only the first surprise.

I'd never read or listened to a book by him, so I took a chance. I am so glad I did because it was wonderful. The suspense and flow were what kept my attention and I didn't want to turn the IPOD off!! I would recommend it to anyone... The narrator of this story was great!. His voice brought the character to life. Made me see Lucas Davenport, truly see him as a person!! I went on to get several more books and listen every chance I get....
