Julia Vargas is a cop with a mission. When she's not chasing down bad guys, Julia dedicates her time to investigating the Hangman serial killer...the same unsolved case that her father, Jim Vargas, was working on when he supposedly shot and killed himself three decades before. While rumors continue to swirl around her father's death, Julia attempts to hunt down the truth. The case once again hits dangerously close, however, when a woman's bones are discovered in a historic downtown home.

The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it's not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that's exactly what happens one cold February evening.

Same story line.....different "perbs".......same cops......same outcome......Roarke can break into anything (safe, home, electronics etc....just like in other death series)....Dallas, a bad ass cop has every resource imaginable at her beckon call..... Roarke and Dallas have too many repetitive, descriptive love making episodes that add nothing to the story line ......we know they love each other.........we are told this in their other 45 books......
Maybe the next in the series will add a few changes.......not so predicable......

I purchased this audio book based on Jonathan Kellerman's past writings.....I found this not one of his best.....the story is fragmented and did not contain any ideas or themes that spurred my interest to continue listening....I did on past experiences....
If one was not familiar with the main characters...Milo Sturgis (and his peculiarities)...and Robin Castagna, Alex's girlfriend....the impact of their behavior/activities on this story is lost....
Come on Jonathan...you can do better, and I look forward to the old Kellerman's writing in your next novel.....
