No connections. Play it safe. These were the rules Ivey lived her life by. Until she hit Mustang, Colorado, a perfectly imperfect town where the citizens were welcoming, and one of them included the tall, beautiful, macho-man rancher cowboy Grayson Cody. On the run for a decade, Ivey knew she was supposed to play it safe. But she was tired of being on the run. She wanted normal. She wanted real. She wanted a home. And she wanted Grayson Cody. And Grayson Cody wanted Ivey.

Where does Mystery Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

top 5

What did you like best about this story?

All the emotion; from tears to laughter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both!

Any additional comments?

A nice storyline supported by engaging characters. Lots of romance and heat in the right places, but not overdone. Kate Russell's narration was excellent. She is able to pitch her voice nuance to support multiple character conversations without confusion. Bravo! Even though this book is probably targeting the "Sex in the City" club (of which I'm not a dues-paying member) and the "girl posse" gets dramatic about shoes, the author keeps it lighthearted, and you feel she's embracing being girly without getting dumb about it.

Any additional comments?

Nora Roberts can always be counted upon to craft stories that invests you emotionally into her characters, and this one is no exception. The main character in this story was a challenge to make that emotional connection with for obvious reasons, but you do learn to love, support and cheer for her. A multi-layered plot keeps you interested and satisfies you with the wrap up. A big cheer in there for Julia Whelan's narration... though her Arkansas twang is not quite authentic, she has a talented voice for keeping us straight on multiple character conversations. Well done.
