Hated for his cruel and vicious nature, ruling his family with an iron hand from his sickbed, tyrannical patriarch Adam Penhallow is found murdered the day before his birthday. His entire family had assembled for his birthday celebration, and every one of them had the ways and means to commit the crime. As accusations and suspicion turn in one direction and then another, the claws and backstabbing come out, and no one is exempt from the coming implosion.

My least favorite from a favorite author. Characters are really diverse in a family that is highly dysfunctional. The patriarch is an ogre, but is so familiar to every family member. When he dies the family turns from scrabbling to suspecting each other. Georgette Heyer does a great job of building layers to a climax with an unexpected end.

Victoria Snyder, adopted when she was only days old, pastes on a smile for her mama's wedding day, but inside she's all atremble. Lawman Rocky Jordan is back home. And this time he's got a bullet hole in his shoulder and enough audacity to come calling. Since tragedy seems to strike those she cares for with uncanny frequency, she wants nothing to do with a man who could be killed in the line of duty like her father.

Victoria and Rocky have been meant for each other for as long as they each can remember. Only problem being, Victoria can not risk loving Rocky. Rocky is a law man and after her father's death it is far too painful to face loosing another man in her life.

A pivotal rescue of 3 orphans and an unplanned wedding later, Victoria finds herself in the middle of her dream family. Surrounded by people who love her, the mystery of her adoption begins to unfold. A locket, rag doll and ship lead her to the woman who has loved and protected her all of her life. Evil lurking nearby will try to change all of that.

Who is Victoria really? And, why will a con man risk everything to be with her?

I have grown to love the Jordan family and Shiloh Valley. Each book in Ms. Bonner's series layers in more and more history. Soon you will feel a part of the family. I can't wait to see what comes next with Sharyah Jordan in book 4. My favorite is High Desert Haven and Fair Valley Refuge ties for second. Dive into this series!

Heart pounding in shock, Sharyah Jordan gapes at the outlaw staring down the barrel of his gun at her. Cascade Bennett shattered her dreams only last summer, and now he plans to kidnap her and haul her into the wilderness with a bunch of outlaws...for her own protection? She'd rather be locked in her classroom for a whole week with Brandon McBride and his arsenal of tricks, and that was saying something. Cade Bennett's heart nearly drops to his toes when he sees Sharyah standing by the desk.

Another winner from Lynnette Bonner! I just finished the audio version and my favorite narrator in this series is Anne Johnston-Brown.

Sharyah and Cade have been "a long time coming" to everyone. Everyone, that is, but to Cade who has always seen Sharyah as his little sister. That slap from her hand last summer and a few unexpected "incidents" are about to open his eyes to a whole new perspective. One where her alluring blonde curls and knack for getting in trouble take everything in him to keep her safe. His heart, however, has never been more unsafe or awake than now. Maybe a little competition is what it takes for Cade Bennett to really see. Or, was that feel?

Spring Meadow Sanctuary is the finale in The Shepherd's Heart series. We have grown to love the Jordan family and their friends in Shiloh. It is sad to come to the end. But, happy in seeing everyone married and settled with children. Does that make us feel like parents? LOL

Enjoy with the rest of us.

I love this author. Ms. Bonner's writing style has you breathing in the scents and seeing the scenery first hand. First of all, Nicki Trent. Who wouldn't like to have a name like that? Which man can Nicki trust? The one who has "Mr. Wonderful" down pat? Or... the other guy?

Enjoy Lynnette Bonner's natural and riveting writing style. Jason's turn around was a little far fetched at first (from 1st book), but had me convinced before the bullets started flying. Nicki is a favorite character in the series.

I liked High Desert Haven even better than Rock Mountain Oasis, her 1st book. It is based on a historic unsolved mystery in Idaho, and is excellent, as well. Read them. You won't want to put them down! I can't wait for the 3rd book in the Shepherd's Heart series. End of August get here already! Someone we already know is the next hero and heroine.

My favorite thing was Rosalyn Landor's narration. I haven't read Lisa Kleypas before but I love historic fiction and the story line sounded intriguing.

Without Cam this book would fall apart. Amelia is your quintessential English 20-year-old female, trying to hold the family together in crisis. Cam is a free spirit who draws her towards more honesty and vulnerability.

That said this book is Chick lit. Well written with varied characters and a good plot.

The year is 2004: Lina Sparrow is an ambitious young lawyer working on a historic class-action lawsuit seeking reparations for the descendants of American slaves. The year is 1852: Josephine is a 17-year-old house slave who tends to the mistress of a Virginia tobacco farm - an aspiring artist named Lu Anne Bell. It is through her father, renowned artist Oscar Sparrow, that Lina discovers a controversy rocking the art world: Art historians now suspect that the revered paintings of Lu Anne Bell, an antebellum artist known for her humanizing portraits of the slaves who worked her Virginia tobacco farm, were actually the work of her house slave, Josephine.

"Stringing together as a story and that story is your life" is a near quote of the author's in Before the Fall which pretty much sums up the book.

It's cynical, near depressive atmosphere which has a slight uptick towards the end coupled with a real lack of answer to life makes me hesitate reading from Noah Hawley again. It is written well and worth reading if you like to face full-on being out of control or the people who experience it. The suspense is good but I enjoyed the characters the most.
