Shades of Twilight is the story of Roanna Davenport, who grows up in a wealthy southern family but never quite fits in. She isn't pretty or popular, and she has a real talent for saying the wrong thing at precisely the wrong moment. She's in love with a distant cousin, Webb Tallant. But Webb marries their cousin Jessie, the bane of Roanna's life. When Jessie is found murdered, Webb is blamed for her death, even though there isn't enough evidence to charge him.

I have read Linda Howard’s books narrated by Natalie Ross (one of my favorite narrators)and loved them. This is my first book by a different narrator and the style of the story was different. Loved it! There was humor, love, and a great mystery. All beautifully developed.

Ms. Howard has joined the ranks of my favorite authors. I will enjoy going through the rest of her books.

Nestled in the shadow of the Appalachians is where Gwen Ashby stumbles upon the William Marshall Academy, and she's given a trial position as a literature teacher. The gothic boarding school seems trapped in time, yet it feels like home the moment Gwen arrives. She's charmed by the lovely buildings, bewitched by the eager students...and utterly seduced by the headmaster. Edwin Yorke is noble, handsome, and infuriatingly proper. But his tweedy exterior and courtly manners conceal a raw, sensual power.

I thought this would be another Bosch story. I bought this one by mistake. I do NOT regret it.
This was a very compelling story about making wrong choices and how they can sabotage your life. There is a lot of detail that might not be needed, but it established the character of the people.
This is not a story I felt good about at the end, but I did continue to wonder about the "what if" and because this story came alive for me; I found myself hoping Cassie will be alright.
Excellently written!

This is a well written classic love story. Nothing is surprising, yet you smile and feel so good for this couple. You want things to work out for them. The telling of the story is straightforward and you love it.

These narrators are perfect! Through them the excitement, hope, fear, and happiness is felt. Perfect touch!

I know I will listen to this many more times. Why? Because sweet and loving is always enjoyable and we like to bask in that "feel good" rapture.

I waited for quite some time for this book to become available. As always it is well written. The drama is built up, but I feel like some parts were rushed and never fully developed in the way these authors usually do.
I was not pleased with the ending. This is another section that seems to be rushed. Some loose ends were completed but many questions remain. These questions are not something to build on for the next book. These are questions that should have been answered in this story.
The characters did not feel like they had the same depth as we have come to expect.
I know I will listen to this book again. Perhaps the next time I will feel differently, but I doubt it.
As always, the narration by Rene Auberjonois was top rate.
