Ryan and Kim Smith struggled with dysfunctional eating throughout their lives. They had been on the hamster wheel of diets long before they met. From 2003, they ate their way through a decade plagued by massive weight gain until 2014, at which point they topped out at well over 500 pounds combined. First, Ryan began a weight-loss effort, then Kim followed suit, eventually leading them both to intermittent fasting. The journey transformed not only their relationship with food but with themselves and with each other.

This story is so inspiring! And is actually very well written. That said.....
I listen to a lot of audio books and have come to appreciate a good reading performance. It’s amazing to me that some narrators do not appropriately apply emphasis. These authors do apply emphasis appropriately.....it is their story, after all! I only gave 3 stars to the performance because it sounded too much like an oral reading in 10th grade....by the shy kid who was dreading their turn to read. I didn’t let that stop me from listening to it, and I’m glad I made it through. It really is a great story. I’m inspired! My comments are given as constructive criticism only! I would encourage them to read again in the future, but with more “stage presence” .... :-)

As this question fills the airwaves with anticipation, their legions of fans continue to multiply and ask a different series of questions, like: Who are these people? I love Chip and Joanna, so I hate to say anything negative about them. I loved the story, but the performance was lacking. I've listened to many authors read their own book. Most have a tendency to sound like they're standing in front of the class reading to their fellow students. An assigned duty. Let's get this over with. A rare few sound as if they're talking to you in the moment....or like they're speaking to an eager crowd.
Chip and Joanna were "reading" their book. I still love them, and I think they'll probably be better on the next one. It probably takes a bit of practice. Kristin Chenoweth and Richard Gerber are excellent readers of their own books.

I loved Steve Chandler's 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself, so I was eager to listen to 100 Ways to Motivate Others. His humorously deadpan use of his magnificent deep speaking voice keeps me fully engaged, which makes the audiobook more desirable than reading a hard copy...
My goal was to find advice I could use to better parent a 24 yr. old son still living at home & not yet on a clear path for the future. This book was very helpful, but I also heard things that my husband might benefit from in his leadership role as general manager at a manufacturing plant in the aerospace industry. Good content that a listener could apply in many aspects of life.

The message is life changing, whether you apply to something significant or something seemingly small. Because the impact it makes will lead you to apply it again & again, building your confidence at every application. The author reads it as if talking directly to you, not as if she is reading a book! That makes for a great listening experience!!!!!
I look forward to utilizing the free 31 mentoring sessions she gives along with the audible purchase.

Placing conditions on our lives and our happiness has become the norm: We must establish a career before looking for a relationship. We must find love before feeling fulfilled. We must feel stressed out until we finish everything on our to-do list. But by far, the most common conditions we put on ourselves revolve around our weight - no love until we lose the weight, no pursuing a dream until we lose the weight, no happiness until we lose the weight. But now there’s a better option.

Reading pace was slow. Readers voice was too juvenile. Content was arranged in a way that didn't lend well to starting and stopping the book at any time. Nick's book can be started at any point and there is good info for the listener to hear. Not so in this one...
