I'm shocked that we allowed the repatriation of these soviets. They all went to their deaths.

This is my first book dealing with microbiology. I do work in allied health and I'm a respiratory therapist. I work with different types of anabiotic's every day. I must say this was a very informative and interesting book. I definitely will recommend this to all my nursing and respiratory friends.

Thank you Doug Stanton for bringing to life this story of both heroes and heart ache. I also thank all the brave men of the Indianapolis! American does not have a clue what it means to give all in sacrifice for ones country. I also am proud of the young man who woke the Navy to right a great wrong in exonerating Captain McVay. So many upper rank officers go off Scott free and it troubles me to know this happens more than we care to admit! This book is a must read!!!

First of all this story had a great ending in what Col. Frazier found, through our Lord Jesus Christ, that he could overcome the hatred of the Japanese people. And second, I do realize that this is one personal account of what happened on Bataan. And I do wish that I had read this book 1st. But after reading Michael and Elizabeth Norman's Book Tears in the Darkness, I found that it had a more detailed account from hundreds of survivors of both of the Bataan death march and the POW prisons in Japan. I also found that Colonel Frazier's account of years after the war seemed a bit boring at times. I do not want to take anything away from him for I know he suffered greatly at the hands of the Japanese. But both Tears in the Darkness and Unbroken are far better written books on the accounts of men suffering and overcoming their hatred for a enemy that was barbaric and cruel beyond all measure.

I am amazed each time I read of these heroes of WWII. How they gave their all to win the war. My heart aches for both the dead and the wounded. They are heroes, all of them! All gave some, some gave all!

I have read many books on World War II. The accounts are all unmistakably real. But this book captures a realism that no other book has before! The stories of the men that went through this horrid existence from 1942 to 1945 give me as an American pause to be thankful for the freedom they have afforded me. I thank God for each and every man and I pray that each one is in God's peace at this time. I am so see that many Generals in the Japanese army paid dearly for their subordinates cruelty and harsh punishment. Isn't it funny how the guilty, the truly guilty always seem to get away with murder! I think this should be mandatory reading for every high school student to show what true Americans went through for the freedom we enjoy.

I have so enjoyed listening to this account of the heroism these women exhibited in the early days of WWII. May they forever rest in the peace they so richly deserve. May God bless and keep them.
