Simply put you get more with honey than you get with vinegar. I’ve listened to this book 3 times and does not get old. I like the fact this book is much older than myself and everything still applies today. Employees being appreciated, people feeling heard are more grateful, and thinking before you speak!

In 2011, when she was in her late 50s, beloved author and journalist Joyce Maynard met the first true partner she had ever known. Jim wore a rakish hat over a good head of hair; he asked real questions and gave real answers; he loved to see Joyce shine, both in and out of the spotlight; and he didn't mind the mess she made in the kitchen. He was not the husband Joyce imagined, but he quickly became the partner she had always dreamed of. Then, just after their one-year wedding anniversary, her new husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

I actually heard Joyce on Dr. Drew Pinsky’s podcast. Something intrigued me to listen to the book. I enjoyed it. An eye opener to pancreatic cancer and how important every minute with a loved one really is.

Would you listen to Mistrial again? Why?

YES!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The Scott Peterson trial i was living near modesto and did listen to the reports on tv. I didn't know how wrong the media got it. My mind has changed a lot about the whole case and wondering where i really stand with the whole thing.

What about Mike Dawson’s performance did you like?

A great job!

I was laughing and crying. Laughing at her looking at men younger than her and realizing her age. But crying at the loss of a loved one and what to do next. Recommend the book to everyone.

"Here is Betty White - a woman who has been on television forever!" is generally how Betty White is introduced. And quite accurately, too, since she first appeared in 1949, when both she and television were rank beginners. Since then, she has had one of the most amazing careers in TV, winning five Emmy awards, creating such unforgettable characters as Sue Ann Nivens and Rose Nylund, and appearing in a host of television classics.

I wasn’t really into the narrator playing both male and female parts but I got over it. I did like the story and Nicholas Sparks never disappoints me.
