On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Hard to Listen to - Hope it Reads Better

Overall
2 out of 5 stars

I've listed to a few King books, and usually the narrator is entertaining, easy to listen to, but I find myself very distracted, and have a hard time with this one. I'm going to have to buy the hardback and see if it reads better, just very hard to hold in my hands.

Wow, I was impressed! I downloaded this as "FICTION", but I really think is should be classified as "Kids & Young Adults", unless I'm wrong.
It is a great action packed listen, and the ending leaves you expecting a sequel.
I sure hope one is coming soon, and I hope that is just as long as the first.

Timothy Carrier, having a beer after work at his friend's tavern, enjoys drawing eccentric customers into amusing conversations. But the jittery man who sits next to him tonight has mistaken Tim for someone very different and passes to him a manila envelope full of cash. "Ten thousand now. You get the rest when she's gone."

Good Guy=Great Book!

Koontz has done it again! The Good Guy is going to be a classic. You think Odd Thomas is a hit? The Good Guy is the next big thing. This is the only Koontz book I have read twice within a week, not to "get it" but because it is so good you can't put it down the first time through, and the second time you want to take it slow and easy.
Can't wait for a sequel if there's to be one, if there's not, what a mistake!

I love this book and listen to it every holiday season! I lightens my mood and I laugh and laugh...
It's very adult and the author doesn't hold back in the conversations of the characters. If you like Koontz, you love this one.

Accent of narrator hard to understand

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

I would have loved to listen to this entire book, but the accent of the narrator made it very hard to understand. While authentic Scottish, her accent was just to thick to listen closely. Sounds like it may be a really good book though, I may buy it in print!

Stephanie Lowe decides Maine schooner captain and pirate descendent Ivan Rasmussen deserves to be called Ivan the Terrible. The house she just bought from him is falling apart and possibly haunted. He complains about her fish-eye stew and burnt chocolate chip cookies. He makes fun of her hair after she's had to comb it while using a toaster as a mirror. And on top of all that, he has the nerve to be charming, handsome, and overboard in love with her.

Love Overboard is a quick, fun listen! Evanovich amazes me with the quality of the books she turns out. I do wish she would use a different narrator though, Critt's voice is annoying and difficult to take seriously.
