Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was a nineteen-year-old kid with a dream of escaping his family's cramped flat on Faithful Place and running away to London with his girl, Rosie Daly. But on the night they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him-probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again. Neither did Rosie. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up.

Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability - the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome - is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall. It is the rise from falling that Brown takes as her subject in Rising Strong.

i think this book would be better read as a book study format, I didn't always enjoy it because I listemed to it continuously. probably better if listened to or read through a longer span of time. As well, I personally didn't enjoy the references in this book to Fictional books and movies (LOTR, Braveheart, Cinderella) etc. I felt like these references took me out of the spiritual connection and into cheese fantasy. I would have enjoyed it better if they discussed more on biblical or christian woman leaders instead.

The Jesus I Never Knew is a piercingly honest interpretation of the life and character of Jesus of Nazareth by a writer unafraid to tackle Christianity's most difficult issues in order to enhance our perspective.

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children, unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a 12-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

This audible recrding of Dr. Browns presentation is fantastic. I actually had watched the video recording of it previously, am on a family vacation, and had turned on this while my husband and I relaxed at sunset. He loved the book and we pulled a late night together listening. Both of us found great connections to her stories and relevance to our relationship. I greatly suggest this recording. It is deeply therapeutic, light and fun, and life changing. Thank you audible for having this availible!
