A new side of Mrs. Polifax, but she comes thru as only she does with cleverness , caring and surprising deliberation. Who would have thought to have Carstairs presence be so There when needed, and mesh so well with her thinking. Great read!

At 87years, I have many of the same memories and thoughts to share with the author. Ergo, I was of the same mind frame as his story developed. Lots of nostalgia, and a bit of determination to encourage my young people to also listen for the help in directing their lives with positive purpose. Can you tell --I truly enjoyed the memory travel through the years with Dick!

Story very interesting. Feel you are "in the time" , and the dialog and thinking reflect those years and those living them. Enough controversy to peak interest in final resolution and enough curiosity to wonder if the outcome would be satisfying. It is!

This story has all the elements of mystery and suspicion you could handle. Hardest was to hear of Mrs. Polifax's abuse. Fortunately the reader gets the message without being overly told of the pain for Mrs. P.Can't wait for the next of Mrs. P's adventures!

Great way to learn the misfortunes of those persons, helpless against the restrictive rules of Society. If you were not the controller of the purse strings, you lived on handouts, since the Job for wages wasn't easily found, and for women was usually a degrading one!

How enlightening the clear delineation of treatment of women and children of poverty ! Too bad this could not have been a solution for more. But, admire the treatise thinking of Amanda Quick in her story.
