A larval Great Old One is growing day by day in power and just about ready to pop. If Chad Gadenier can't convince "the powers that be" to get involved, not only New Orleans, but the entire world, is going to fall under the power of the nastiest of nasties. Now on the outs with the US government and in exile from his usual job of saving the world, Chad must rally the forces of light against the coming darkness. The problem is one guy with a sword and a sub-gun isn't going to solve this one.

Brilliant scientist Rose Franklin has devoted her adult life to solving the mystery she accidentally stumbled upon as a child: a huge metal hand buried beneath the ground outside Deadwood, South Dakota. The discovery set in motion a cataclysmic chain of events with geopolitical ramifications. Rose and the Earth Defense Corps raced to master the enigmatic technology, as giant robots suddenly descended on Earth's most populous cities, killing one hundred million people in the process.

The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

This is my second listen, after having listened to "14" twice as well.

Again I love the author's writing style, it is very easy to take in, and get lost in the world. I hope we get to revisit the world of 14 and Thr Fold again.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

what a great world and story, I've listened to this book twice now and most of Peter Clines other works. As much as I enjoy his EX Heroes series, its the world of 14/The fold I enjoy most. his writing style is simple very easy to intake and doesn't come off pretentious as some authors.

heres hoping he does another book in the 14/the fold universe.

Wow..this book? THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE..this is THE book. If I was stuck on a desert island... why is it always a desert island anyways?, why not a tropical island?. Does a desert island even exist? I digress, this book would be my Wilson, after I was done reading it (errr.. listening to it) I would talk to it, play chess against it, caress it close on those long island nights, make sweet love to it. The author seems like the kinda guy who would be awesome to hang out with and have a beer, or maybe watch a mad max flick and eat nachos. The narration, while not Wil Wheaton, was still very good, but I do think Wil Wheaton would have done a better job. I can't wait for a movie to come out based on this book and all I can hope for is Samuel L. Jackson as the fish. "I'm Fallin Mutha$#©k@!!"
