Good thing the focus of this year is teamwork, because with their origins known, they'll have to lean on each other more than ever. Now finally sophomores, their curriculum expands, allowing them to train in the majors that Heroes specialize in. The new classes will test their minds, bodies, and determination in ways never anticipated.

I really like how Drew Hayes digs in and knows his characters and how they interact. The books are long, but its well worth the effort. I feared that Year 2 would be less interesting than Year 1 since each year the class size is smaller. Instead, Year 2 is even better. Don't want to give any of it away. Its too good for that. New friends are made. A couple of students from other dorms get to move into this dorm. . . .

Lily Bard is going home for the holidays. More comfortable in baggy sweats than bridesmaid's frills, Lilly isn't thrilled about attending her estranged sister's wedding. She has moved to Shakespeare, Arkansas, to start a new life, cleaning houses for a living, trying to forget the violence that once nearly destroyed her. Now she's heading back to home and hearth - just in time for murder.

When it becomes clear that the car thieves didn't get what they were looking for the first time around and Ida Belle's vehicle becomes their next target, Fortune and Gertie are determined to protect their friend. Ida Belle is determined to protect the Blazer.

These books always give me good chuckles, and every now and then out loud laughs. Ida Belle and Gertie are great characters and foils for Deputy Carter LeBlanc. I know there are many side stories written by others, but I hope Jana DeLeon keeps writing the main series.

The white victim was somehow connected to two unsolved murders of black residents of Shakespeare - and a dogged policeman is determined to stop the killing. But it is Lily herself who may have to decide whether to stay and fight for justice, or run away one more time.

On a first half listen (listening off and on while doing other things) it sounded like bed hopping. On a more close listen, while doing only one other thing, there is no bed hopping, only men who wished for it. The story is good. Its a light mystery, though not a cozy mystery. Decent story. Worth going on to the next in the series.

The time they do have will be filled with more trials and classes, honing their skills as they work toward the increasingly difficult goal of becoming Heroes.

Builds on Year 1 and Year 2. The major characters return, including Nick/Nicholas. Adventure that involves all of the Supers, students, faculty, and professional. Death and emotion too. Real life. Each student continues to grow and expand. The ending gives hints of the future. Hints on why the Powereds were turned into Supers. Hints on who is in charge of this being done. Hints on exactly how much strength the former Powereds have and will gain. Now to impatiently wait for Year 4 to be written.

Sinful, Louisiana, is always a hotbed of activity, and despite the steamy heat, August is no exception. Godzilla is terrorizing the town, looking for a home-cooked meal, and Gertie is worried someone will take the gator out before she can get him under control. Francine has a situation of her own at the café, where food is missing from inventory. And Celia is always up to no good. But summer is almost over, which could mean huge changes for Fortune Redding.

Good laughs, which is one reason I enjoy this series. Ending is different than usual. Won't give it away. Its emotional. Big and Little Hebert are also present, as well as Mannie. I hope this series continues.

With a thriving parahuman accounting practice, a steady relationship, and a circle of trusted friends, Fred's undead life has become more enjoyable than his normal one ever was. Unfortunately it also seems that he's no longer the only vampire to appreciate the up-and-coming city of Winslow, Colorado. A new clan of vampires is moving in, and they aren't well known for tolerating outsiders in their territory.

I read the book when it first came out. Recently purchased the audiobook. Like the characters of this author. This book gives more backstory to Lizard and Elsie. Lot of details about how they came to be part of witch central. Also about how Lizard came to work for/with Lauren. WitchLight Trilogy is a great sub-series of A Modern Witch series. Excellent narration. Now I'm off to listen to the entire series again.

Last Train from Hiroshima offers listeners a stunning "you are there" time capsule, gracefully wrapped in elegant prose. Charles Pellegrino's scientific authority and close relationship with the A-bomb's survivors make his account the most gripping and authoritative ever written. At the narrative's core are eyewitness accounts of those who experienced the atomic explosions firsthand---the Japanese civilians on the ground and the American fliers in the air.

The hilly terrain next to the old Sprocket house that Meg Langslow and her fiancé, Michael, are refurbishing is the perfect location for an extreme croquet field - even the legs of cows and sheep are convenient extra wickets. Croquet has become all the rage in Caerphilly...until it appears someone in town has taken the rage a bit too literally. While stumbling down a steep bank after her ball, Meg encounters the body of a fresh female corpse with a mallet-sized dent in her head.
